The listing description was accurate regarding the location and the photographs accurately reflect the rental’s appearance.
The property is older (no granite counter tops here - but that is accurately described in the listing); however, it is well maintained. The kitchen has very basic amenities as far as utensils are concerned and the cooking vessels are older and mismatched – making some meals more difficult to prepare. Visitors, if they are planning on cooking in the condo, should bring items such as cheese graters, spatulas, additional wine glasses or plastic cups, and other basic necessities (tin foil, paper towels, etc.). Vail has many great restaurants; however, staying in a condo with a full kitchen allows for a more leisurely schedule and time with friends and family.
Bring additional blankets and pillows if you are planning on using the pull-out couch.
The initial inquiry to the owners was responded to immediately; however, it only confirmed that the condo was available and that a deposit needed to be sent. We were wary of the rental because it felt as if the owners were focused only on receiving payments and were not so timely on answering our questions or confirming when they had received payments. Especially with the issues that many sites are experiencing today with fraud and hackers, it seemed untrustworthy; however, once we received the directions (a week prior to our departure as promised by the owners) we had no problem finding and gaining access into the condo.
Visitors should check the bus schedule to the base when they arrive and the walk to the bus stop from the condo is very easy. We had one non-skier with us for the weekend. There are many restaurants and shops and Lionshead also has a lodge at the base. It is a short walk for non-skiers to Gondola, which is free for them after 2:00 pm if they want to get a better view of the area.
I would definitely recommend this condo to a friend or relative. The rating is based on the price, which cannot be beat, and the spaciousness of the condo and its views. If you want a newer model with all the amenities, this isn't the condo for you; however this fits the bill if you want an affordable, spacious, clean, and convenient space.
