A delightful, large, fully air conditioned villa with three twin bedded rooms, approximately eight minutes away drive away from Almirida. Children are most welcome.

It stands in its own grounds by a quiet road fringed with pine trees, between the Cretan villages of Gavalochori abd Xerosterni and with lovely views to the White Mountains.

There is a large pool, gardens, terrace and BBQ area.

Gavalochori is five minutes away by car or fifteen minutes on foot, with a choice of tavernas, mini-markets and a local bakery.

For those wishing for a holiday away from the crowds, this is the villa for you.

The villa is surrounded by a large planted garden, with pathways through it leading to and from a pergola.

There is a generous paved BBQ area to the side with a table and chairs and a large terrace with sun loungers and parasols surrounding the oval swimming pool.

The two upstairs bedrooms have large covered balcony, whilst the downstairs bedroom has double door accessing a tiled outside area. The downstairs bedroom also has an ensuite basin and toilet. All twin beds can be easily pushed together.

The local (nearest) shops are situated in Gavalochori (5 minutes drive) and Almirida (8 minutes drive).

Gavalochori is a typical Cretan village with two mini-markets, a bakery and three tavernas. The village has its own women's co-operative selling hand made goods, a museum, and an old mill (being restored) and some Venetian wells, which are well worth exploring.

At Almirida, you will find shops, tavernas, bars, gift shops and supermarkets as well as the excellent Blue Flag beaches. There are also various family activities such as water sports and ten pin bowling.

The villa is only a short drive away from Chania (pronounced Hania), which was once the islands capital. It has a famous Venetian harbour with quayside bars and tavernas and behind the harbour you can wander through the Old Town with its beautiful Venetian buildings and shops selling handicafts, textiles, jewelery, leather goods and ceramics

Crete is the biggest and most southerly of the Greek islands.

Having had several days travelling around the Island, we arrived and felt immediately at home. The villa is set in quiet surroundings and is not overlooked. We found the facilities were all they should be. You do however need a vehicle as the restaurants and beach are 4 km away. There are plenty of good restaurants in Almerida and around about. We would definitely recommend this villa to anyone requiring a peaceful holiday with beautiful private pool. We look forward to visiting again.

Nous avons passé 3 semaines agréables à la villa Oleander (Gavalochori). Les prestations correspondent en tout point à la description de l'annonce. Le propriétaire (avec qui l'on peut communiquer en français) est très aimable et fournit toutes les informations qui facilitent l'arrivée et le séjour. La maison, le jardin et la piscine sont très bien entretenus. Isolée, sur une colline boisée, la maison est idéale pour des vacances calmes et détendues. Mes enfants et petits-enfants ont abondamment profité de la grande piscine. En voiture (absolument indispensable!) on dispose des commerces nécessaires pour le quotidien à quelques kilomètres. Une plage familiale et propre est accessible en quelques minutes; on y trouve aussi des restaurants simples et conviviaux. La localisation est idéale pour la découverte de l'ouest de la Crète, ses villes, ses sites touristiques, que ce soit les montagnes et les gorges de l'intérieur ou les plages du sud. Bref une location que nous recommandons et où nous serons heureux de retourner.

We spent three pleasant weeks at Villa Oleander (Gavalochori). The property and its benefits are as described in the advert. The owner (with whom one can communicate in French) is very friendly and provides all the information for arrival and the stay. Home, garden and pool are very well maintained. Isolated, on a wooded hill, the house is ideal for quiet and relaxed holidays. My children and grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the large pool. By car (a must!) all the necessary daily shops are available a few miles away. A clean family beach is just a few minutes away where there are also simple and friendly restaurants. The location is ideal for exploring the west of Crete, its cities, tourist sites, the mountains and gorges of the interior, or the southern beaches. In short a property that we recommend and we will be happy to return.

Villa Orleander

This was our second holiday at Villa Orleander. It is a clean, well maintained property providing all the comforts of home and situated in a quiet, rural location and yet within easy access to beaches, shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, although a car is essential. A fantastic place to unwind by the pool for a few days before exploring the island. We particularly liked driving up in to the mountains and finding small, family run restaurants providing home grown delicious meals. We always received a warm welcome from the local people. The owners provided maps, books and a wealth of information about the island and places to visit. This was our second holiday at Villa Orleander and we hope to return again soon to discover more about its history and to rediscover some of our favourite haunts. We would certainly recommend the property to family and friends.

a trully stunning villa set on a beautifull plot with a large swimming pool and patio area the layout off the villa is excelent for families and couples sharing with all the facilities needed to make your stay very comfortable (including 3 loos 2 showers and a bath) it was very well maintained and clean and in a peacefull setting yet only a few mins drive from all the restaurants and neighboughing villages and the sandy beaches definatley a villa we would return to

When we decided to holiday in Crete with our young boys after visiting the island 15 years ago, we were really surprised at how difficult it was to find the ideal property. We wanted a spacious villa with a good sized private pool. Our young sons can be a little noisy for built up areas, so we aimed for a villa that was not overlooked or too close to other properties. Most of the villas we found just did not tick all the boxes or were already booked (even though we started searching in January). In the end we found this villa via a rather convoluted route on the web, but couldn't have asked for more. The villa is located a short drive (5 mins-ish) up in the mountains from a nice beach and range of great restaurants, we found this area to be much more select than some of the areas down the coast, which are more suited to Brits & beach towels. The villa is fab, a great size with an excellent pool - we could all splash about without disturbing any neighbours. In the morning we were often awoke by a heard of goats making their way past the villa, which we looked forward to, during the day the occasional car passes by. Our children spent hours in the pool, retreating to the lounge to chill over a range of kids videos. The ground floor has an adjoining lounge kitchen, ideal for breakfast and really spacious. Upstairs the bedrooms open up to a large balcony overlooking the pool & BBQ area. A fab bakery for croissants & cakes is only short drive away. We would recommend this villa and would not hesitate to return.
