Cosy, romantic retreat in Bowness, with all the comforts of home. Sleeps 4.

Partridge Holme, an old sail makers cottage built of traditional slate, in 1889. Set in a quiet backwater, in the heart of Bowness, its terrific location means only a short walk to the Windermere Lake. The cottage has been restored and refurbished to a very high standard of comfort - with a balanced mix of modern and new contemporary furnishings - offering a cosy and relaxed decor. Near to the cottage is the Windermere Royal Yacht Club, where sailing is taught. There is a Local Theatre, Local Cinema, Shops, excellent Restaurants, local Pubs and the nearby New England Hotel - with its New Spa facility, are all nearby. Gentle walks are in striking distance, yet the wonderful Mountains are also within reach. Fishing, Horse riding, Cycle Hire, Golf - are some of the range of Sporting activities, here in the Lake District.. A local information pack also available.

Entering the cottage, the open-plan interior has been created to offer a comfortable and a warm welcome. The kitchen welcomes the cooks' amongst you.

The two Bedrooms offer sumptuous bedding on the Sleigh bed in the master bedroom and on the Twin Beds - in the second bedroom.

A modern bathroom completes the care and attention, spent making this cottage an ideal Holiday retreat in the Lakes.

A Free Car Parking permit linked with the cottage - allows free car parking, to listed car parks throughout the Lakes.

Broadband B.T. is available at the cottage through the 'Open Zone' B.T. network. Anyone using ths facility will already have a B.T. account and have a user name and password. The Computer will need to have a wireless Connector capability.

I just wanted to say thank so much for such a lovely stay at your cottage over the first bank holiday weekend! We had such a lovely time in the Lake district and all really wished we could have been there a while longer. Thanks also for being so good about Steve dropping the keys overboard while on the ferry to Ambleside!! What a nightmare!



I was wondering if the £100 cheque I sent up with the deposit (which I think was for accidental damages) would be returned to us or if you have already disposed of it? I just wanted to confirm basically that it was or will be destroyed or sent back.



Thanks again, we will be sure to recommend your cottage to our friends and any one we hear of that is planning up trip up that way.

Lovely, cosy cottage in great location for all the pubs, restaurants and shops in bowness. The cottage had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay, including very comfortable beds! Will definitely recommend to any friends planning a visit to the lakes and sure we'll be back.

Lovely cozy cottage in ideal location

Cottage is cozy and home away from home. Kitchen is workable an contains all you should need, washing machine, cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher microwave. Beds & bedding comfortable, if anything a little soft for me, but that's not difficult!
Reasonable water pressure in the shower, which in other places is often a disappointment.
There is no parking space, but this was not a problem as a car park pass is provided, with the car park no more than a couple of minutes walk. Closer than it sounded when I read the instructions before booking. The Car Park Pass is a MAJOR plus as is transferable. This saved us a fortune in car parking fees as we explored other towns.
Bowness itself is lovely, plenty of places to eat & drink, and also the option of a host of takeaways, obviously caters for tourists well.
Only a couple of 'express' style supermarkets in Bowness, but would suggest you go to the Supermarket by the train station in Windermere for better selection and better prices!
A very short walk to be on the lake shore with beautiful views.
I would recommend the area and the cottage and would certainly stay there again.

Very nice place!

We had an awesome stay at Partridge Holme. The cottage is very well located in Bowness. Everything is within walking distance. The parking (and thanks for the parking pass) is not too far and convenient. The place is well decorated and is packed with everything you need. Property was spotless and well-maintained. Communications with the owners were easy with plenty of info and our security deposit cheque (not cashed) was promptly returned after our stay.

I highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the area.

Probably the best value and location in the Lakes!

It has been six months since we stayed at Partridge Holme and I have been a bit slack with posting my promised review; however, here it is!

The cottage was a bit hard to find, but when we finally located it, in it's tiny village street, we were enchanted! We fell in love with the house straightaway and very quickly found our way around Bowness.

The cottage itself is small, but that was what we wanted and expected - the point being, don't book this place for a crowd! However, for the two of us, plus two more for one night, it was absolutely perfect. Alex and Frank have ensured that every necessary amenity has been provided for a comfortable and trouble-free stay and the Car Park pass is pure gold! Just ensure you understand its area limitations.

Being centrally located in Bowness meant that we could access pretty much anywhere in the District within an hour or so drive or by using the ferry services. The location was also fantastic for access to many nearby walks, which was a big feature of our stay. We took at least one good walk every day and when we returned to Partridge Holme, drying our clothes was surprisingly easy, given the small size of the house and no garden. The radiators were very efficient!

One of the most important aspects of booking any holiday is the attitude and service provided by the operators. Frank and Alex were fantastic in that regard and provided great information, assistance and advice both before and during our stay. Having booked at fairly short notice from Australia, that was vital to the success of our visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this cottage to everyone we talk to. If you, dear reader, are considering staying here - just do it!

Just back from this cottage and had a great time. It is ideally situated for exploring Bowness and Windermere and surrounding area. Just a few minutes walk away from the main shopping and lakes area. Cottage is really clean and well maintained. Owners were very helpful from the time off booking till we arrived home. Would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to holiday in the Lake District. The parking pass is really useful when you are out and about. Would return to this cottage again when holidaying in this area.

Relaxing holiday retreat in lovely location!

We have just spent a week in this lovely cottage and found it to be everything that we expected. The location was ideal for exploring Bowness and other further afield places, it was quiet and the cottage very well equipped, clean and comfortable.

Booking was easy and we found Frank and Alex to be very thorough, providing detailed information regarding directions to the property, access and parking ( the parking permit was a real bonus and well used)

We were very impressed with the variety and number of places to eat in Bowness and sampled several of them! We enjoyed evening meals in Hyltons and the local pub, Hole in t'Wall and also a tasty cooked breakfast in Bryson's bakery tea room.

We spent an evening in Bowness cinema and enjoyed the charms of a more traditional venue with friendly service, in fact we found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

A great base for exploring on foot, with several walks easily accessible from the town itself and also a choice of boat trips from the waterfront.

A thoroughly enjoyable time spent both relaxing and exploring. We certainly hope to return to the cottage and would not hesitate in recommending it to other people.

Luxury Hotel nearby with Spa facilities . Windermere Lake only 5 mins walk, offers rowing and organised cruisers. Local horseriding and sailing clubs are nearby. The cottage's great central location has several good local restaurants and friendly pubs, within walking distance. A Local Theatre Group, Bowness Cinema and the Beatrix Potter exhibition are within 10 min. walk. Excellent local, or long fell walks, are within striking distance, catering for all levels of fitness. Wi Fi located in nearby Starbucks cafe - less than 1 min walk into the town.
