Peter Firth, the owner, lives in the adjoining house, and tries to maintain a balance between availability when needed and discretion when not. It is not for him to say whether this is entirely successful - but it does appear to please the guests thus far. Peter bought the house six years ago from an English couple who had restored the two properties over a period of ten years to a high standard. The tone of the decor is rustic, in keeping with the eccentric layout of the house. The level of appointments is high, and comprehensive.
Special attention has been paid to safety around the pool: access to the area is either through a lockable door or a secure gate - both of which would defeat a toddler. While the point has to be made that nothing can replace parental vigilance, those provisions and the presence of an immersion alarm on the pool itself (a French legal requirement) do contribute to peace of mind.
