Photos and Description of the Bouriege vacation barn rental Self Catering Rental with garden in the Foothills of the Pyrenees.

The auberge is set in the sleepy, quiet, village of Bouriege which is surrounded by vineyards, in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the heart of Cathar country in the Languedoc. Our three story, four bedroom village house has been lovingly restored and period furnished. Down the small alley at the back of the house is the 'secret garden' A old stone wall enclosed garden full of roses and grapevines as well as a barbeque and hammock. Adjacent to the house is a two bedroom, two storey converted stone barn; its interior balcony overlooks the open studio loft space with a corner kitchen, and the 'secret garden ' Down the road, next to a stream is our second garden where we play croquet and badminton or just lounge in the hammock. These houses while completely independent are just next door to each other and rented together are wonderful for a large house party.

The studio is right next door to the auberge. It had been the old stone barn where the travellers horses were stabled. The studio as befits a converted barn is a rustic but we think quite lovely place to stay. The walls are all old unfinished stone and the floors wide pine floorboards. The studio has two bedrooms with separate full bath (no shower) on the ground floor level. Up a steep flight of stairs is the main studio space with a large skylight and complete working kitchen. Copper pots, complete s et of dishes cutlery and cooking utensils as well as small under the counter fridge freezer. There is also a balcony running along the back wall of the studio with a small chaise, desk and chair and French doors that lead out to our neighbors garden. Outside the barn is a small patio with a table and two chairs for sitting outdoors.n

Our house makes a perfect base to discover the the beauty of the Languedoc- its vinyards and chateaux, the stunning countryside and small villages, its local food and wines. Explore the medieval walled city of Carcassonne-spend the day in Mirepoix a beautiful half timbered market town. Head to the beaches of Perpignan or indulge yourself at the hot spring Spa in Rennes Les Bain. We are 1.5 hours from Spain and a beautiful coastal 4 hr. drive to Barcelona.

Notes: The studio as befits a studio has one large open plan space upstairs. The kitchen is in one corner. The large dining table as well as the two leather armchairs are all on wheels so you can dine in the center of the room or clear everything back to the wal ls to work or paint or just for a change of scene. On request we will happily provide an extra single bed for one of the downstairs bedrooms. The washing machine is located next door and is shared with the auberge. Outside the barn is a small patio with a table and two chairs for sitting outdoors. The garden that is available for anyone staying in the studio is located a bit further down the village and backs onto a stream. There is a central lawn surrounded by fruit trees with a hammock for lounging at the end of the garden.?
