Central Nice Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Quiet no through road, tucked behind Promenade Des Anglais, near Negresco Hotel

This is a smart 1960's purpose built block of apartments, all with terraces and central hot water and heating. The building is entered by a large marble foyer with two lifts available. Situated on the second floor, the Living Room, Kitchen and Bedroom all open onto the terrace through large glass doors. The floors are marble tiled and parquet in the bedroom. The whole place was refurbished by an Italian company to a high standard and has a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with separate toilet. Walls are painted in soft pastels or white providing a clean relaxed ambiance. Simply but luxuriously furnished in imported antique Californian Lucite furniture, the light is reflected throughout. . The location is 2 minutes from the sea and restaurants/shops/supermarket but in a cul de sac away from the traffic. There are free but popular parking spaces down below. 20 min walk to old town, Place Massena and tramway. This is first and foremost my retirement home so please cherish!

INTERNET AND PHONE: Just to add that we provide Free Wifi and landline calls to most major countries of the world. We also have some access to English tv channels;

MEET AND GREET: All guests will be personally met with keys at the apartment.

Our wonderful stay at Le Mogador, Nice

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I booked this apartment for his birthday during July 2008. It was the first time that we have opted for a private apartment and I must say that we had the most fantastic time ever. The very friendly owners picked us up from the airport, even though we had a delay and it was late at night. Our first impressions of the apartment was 'what a great place' and I can confirm that it is exactly as the photographs displayed on the site and I mean exactly - it is beautiful, spotlessly clean - I wanted to move in forever! The description of this apartment is totally accurate. It is literally 2 mins from the Promenade and the sea and really is in a ideal location to enjoy Nice. It is quiet and peaceful and the balcony is a great place to have a BBQ (yes there is a BBQ for you to use and we did) and a bottle of wine or two in the evenings. The balcony is also very sunny and great to sunbathe during the day. There is every modern convenience to use including a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave etc which made life easy if you prefer to eat in rather than spend lots of money eating out every night. The supermarket and bakery were just around the corner so it was very convenient to stock up the fridge with food and vino! We have friends who live in Nice and we entertained them most evenings and they told us that the apartment was in a 'posh' area of Nice! It is literally a 20 minute walk to Old Nice where there is a great selection of restuarants where you can eat outdoors. The owners were great and even called us after a few days to check that everything was ok. I would, and have, recommended this property to family and friends and will definitely book again for 2009 when we can decide on the date. If you book this property you will be delighted. The Lady Who Thought of Everything

Having stayed in many holiday apartments worldwide, this apartment tops them all for facilities and attention to detail.

It was scrupulously clean and the overall decor was delightful, relaxing and well maintained. The apartment was well heated (essential during our January stay) and there was constant hot water. The photographs and description are 100% accurate in detail but what we must stress is the fantastic range of "extras" provided from basic foodstuffs/beverages/toiletries to minor household items such as dishwasher/ washer tablets, washing up liquid, handwashes and soaps, notelets/pens, first-aid requirements and sunscreens etc - in fact a home from home.

Jane has a most friendly personality and is very welcoming and knowledgeable regarding the facilities in Nice. She telephoned during the week to check we were comfortable and stressed that she was always available if required. However, her printed leaflets were so comprehensive that nothing had been left to chance.

As it was winter and cold in the evenings we did not stray far into the town for an evening meal so found the restaurant on the corner Les Jardins du Capitol excellent value with a good menu and attentive service.

Due to the location and facilities we would certainly recommend Jane's property to friends and family.

Thank you ,Jane, for a relaxing holiday.

Owner's Response: If I were shy, I would blush! So many kind words and of course all of them immensely appreciated. I am glad the 'extras' went down so well. I always do like to ask guests if there was anything they might have liked but not found but anyway, as I spend time there myself, I like it to be fully equiipped. Very Many thanks for a lovely review.

Stay at La Barchetta

We had a lovely time staying at the holiday apartment. We were greeted with a very warm welcome, Jane is very lovely. It was spacious, comfortable, really well decorated and everything you could possibly want was available- all the necessities and more. The apartment is situated in a nice place, a two minute walk to the promenade/beach/restaurants and on a street very close to multiple boulangeries/patisseries and supermarche's which we found very handy when getting breakfast every morning. It is a little walk to the centre where there are more restaurants/shops/old town however this is a pleasant walk. Even the walk to the train station was not too bad to make, however if you didn't want to walk the apartment is conveniently close to bus stops which is great. We would definitely recommend booking this apartment, it was ideal and we really enjoyed our holiday!

Owner's Response: How good of you to leave such a lengthy and thorough review. I appreciate these things take time and energy especially after you have got back home and into the daily drudge. Its good to know we are providing all that our guests need although constantly reviewing so any ideas are always appreciated. So nice to meet the family - particularly the one with umbrella skills :)-

Many homely extras

Very well appointed with lovely touches .

Location good for beach access.

We found air conditioning system inadequate in bedroom and overall very stuffy inside - it was over 30 degrees during our stay.

Owner's Response: My first less than 5 star review I think! Oh well, we cant please everybody all of the time and June was extremely hot this year from mid month which took everybody by surprise. Maybe a totally air conditioned apartment would have been a better bet if one feels the heat. Generally though, with every room opening onto the terrace and so close to the sea, most folk say the air circulates very well and keeps it a bit cooler than most places. I hope the onward trip was successful.

No better place to rent in Nice for a holiday

I have just left La Barchetta, our second stay in Jane's chic flat in Central Nice. This is a super little pad that quickly becomes a home from home. That mattered less when we stayed in July 2011, but we brought the English weather to the Rivera this Easter (2012) so there were a couple of evenings when all we wanted to do was hide from the rain and stay off the wet streets. The full length balcony provided ample refuge from the rain but still allowed us to be outside and not get wet.

La Barchetta is located in a lovely part of central Nice, only one building stands between it and the calm aquamarine waters of the Mediterranean sea. One block away is the supermarket and around the corner, literally, are two great bakeries. Nice is wonderfully flat terrain unless you head out towards Mont Boron (recommended) so great if you suffer from limited mobility (the flat has two lifts as well). It takes about ten minutes gentle walk into the main shopping area, another five minutes from there to reach the market square where you will find (in our opinion) Nice's best restaurants. At night the market stalls are put away and the restaurants turn the square into a wonderful patchwork of al fresco eateries. Pizzas, steaks, fine French food and even Indian food can be found here, most at reasonable prices. But if you don't fancy the walk, try the restaurant on the corner of the road opposite the bus stop and Hi Beach, the food is lovely. And having Hi Beach practically on your doorstep is fabulous, especially if you like cocktails while you sunbathe! Whilst there are private beach areas in Nice, every other beach is public so don't listen to the gloom merchants who tell you all beaches are private and expensive; the beach closest to the flat is public and even in July we never struggled to get on it, but they are busy.

Getting to the flat is simple, as it's one building back from the Promenade d'Anglais and the bus stop is one minutes walk away. The buses serve the airport (15 mins into both terminals), Monte Carlo, Cannes, Antibes, Villefranche sur mer (sandy beaches) and many other places. Other than the airport €4 each way per person) the bus is €1 even to Menton, which is practically Italy. We also did the walk from the flat to Villefranche sur mer in about an hour. That is a super walk with dramatic scenery.

The flat itself is a large one bedroomed flat with a terrace running the full length and French doors f

La Barchetta, Nice. Vanessa, London

We have had a wonderful week staying in La Barchetta. The apartment is exactly as it looks in the photographs and is beautiful and stylishly furnished and a pleasure to be in. All the facilities that might be needed have been provided and the kitchen is especially well-equipped for the preparation of different types of meals. We found it so pleasant that we bought most of our dinners at the wide range of local restaurants as take-ways and brought them back to have on the balcony, along with out own choice of wine. The local grocery was well stocked and very convenient, and the bakeries and fruit sellers provided excellent fresh bread and fruit. The flat is exceptionally well-located. In particular it is just two minutes from the Promenade des Anglais and the sea front where we went every night to watch the moon on the waters and savour the very lively atmosphere. The flat is situated in a lovely part of Nice where there is a variety of shops with intriguing and elegant items on display. It is also only a 15-20 minute walk to Massena Square and the old town and its markets. There are parks and gardens nearby which contain a wonderful variety of plants and offer cool shade and rest. We made frequent use of the public transport and thus saw most of the sights of Nice. We also went by bus to towns such as Monte Carlo and Antibes for one euro per journey.

The flat was very clear, the block was quiet, the two lifts worked well, and we found the neighbours very friendly. Best of all were Jane and Siamak who so kindly provided a really helpful welcome ensuring that we knew where to get what we needed and explained all the appliances and anything else we needed to know. Their interest in ensuring our comfort was much greater than in any other holiday property we have stayed in. Altogether it was a fantastic holiday.

The apartment is beautifully furnished in 1970's Lucite furniture imported from California. (I used to be an antique dealer in my old life). It provides light and spaciousness but requires loving care so regretfully not the best option for children. It is fine to smoke on the terrace.( NO SMOKING INSIDE PLEASE) And whilst you are out there with your gin and tonic , please remember to 'slosh' a little water into my plants. The beauty of this apartment is that it is shielded from all the noise/wind on the seafront. It has a lovely sunny balcony full of plants and is thus a plant lovers paradise. Amazingly there are FREE PARKING spaces underneath but of course you have to be quick to get one! Great shops and restaurants in immediate vicinity . But its a quiet building so please don't ask the local waiters back for a rave!!
