Sandpiper Beach is a small and beautifully maintained five building complex on 13 acres of lush beachfront property. Kept to a very high standard, there is a large heated swimming pool, tennis court, shuffle board court, barbecue grills and a lighted walkway through the tropical beachfront nature reserve to the white sand beach. The driveway and walkways were recently renewed with paving blocks giving the complex a truly modern but relaxed feel. Under-building parking, a storage room with bicycles and beach gear help to increase your holiday enjoyment. You can jog or cycle pathways to nearby public nature reserves or interesting specialty shops along Periwinkle Way. You can enjoy the local live theatre, art exhibits, a great variety of restaurants, fishing, boating and many other island pursuits. Don't forget those gorgeous sunsets! 'FREE' WIRELESS BROADBAND INTERNET has been installed in the complex allowing any laptop with a wireless card to access the internet - FREE.

The condo is fully furnished to high standard (JUST REPAINTED 10/2009 ). It has 2 bedrooms + 2 roll-away beds, a main bathroom, an en-suite bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room area, a living room and a lanai (screened porch). Facilities include a dishwasher, fridge with ice-maker, oven/cooker, all normal kitchen dishes & utensils, a NEW washer & dryer, 32' TV & DVD / Video in LR, 2 NEW bedroom TV'swith built-in DVD players, a NEW CD player with iPOD connection, storage locker with 4 bicycles & some beach gear. Sandpiper Beach is a beachfront condo complex directly on the Gulf of Mexico side of Sanibel Island very near the center of the island. Sanibel Island is just off the coast, west of Ft Myers, on the west coast of Florida. It is south of Captiva and North Captiva islands and north of Bonita Springs, Naples and Marco Island.

  • Minimum rental period is one week, which runs from Saturday, 3:00 pm (arrival) through Saturday, 10:00 am (departure). A 20% deposit within 24 hours (by credit card) is required for all rentals, with the balance due one month prior to your stay (two months prior for longer rentals). This will be arranged through our property management company that is also located on Sanibel to assist you, if needed. Broadband internet usage is free of charge, whereas telephone calls are chargeable at standard rates.

Cycling: There are bike trails alongside many of the islands roadways allowing bikers to enjoy the scenic views in safety. There are 4 bikes in the lockup storage room for guests to use free of charge.

Fishing: You can fish from the beach at the condo, or from the fishing pier near the Sanibel Lighthouse. There are local boat captains that can be hired to take you fishing on the islands bays and backwaters, or you can go deep sea fishing on several boats departing from Ft Myers beach.

Beach visits: Every day is a 'special day' on the Sanibel beaches. Early morning walks (the early bird catches the shell!) along the beach can result in finding overnight deposits of many of the beautiful shells that can be found on the island. Almost every visit to the beach proves to be a new experience, as the ever changing tides and breezes bring a variety of shells, birds, driftwood or unique objects to the beach. Gazing out to the Gulf one can often see dolphins surfacing and boats cruising to some unknown destination.

Fantastic Restful Vacation A Wonderful Place to Be

We rented this property from 28 Feb - 7 March 2009

The condo was clean and the exterior grounds were meticulously cared for.

The short walk to the beach not really a walk more of a short stroll over a boardwalk that ends where the path in the pictures begins.

Do not feet the alligator (that we never saw) as you use the boardwalk.

There are four bikes with the property and we used them to ride all over the island, we even took a tour of the Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve on the bikes.

Sandpiper has three buildings, about 12 units (possibly less) per building. The first four days of our stay we never saw anybody else staying there. The last 3 days a few more people showed up. This complex is really under used.

Our day began with a 2 mile hike up and down the beach. Then a breakfast on the Lani overlooking the water. The view could not be any better than it is.

The grills for outdoor cooking are well maintained. They are charcoal grills not gas grills. This was a challenge for me, but I quickly picked up dead twigs and sticks and started a wood fire and then added charcoal.

One thing to be aware of, this unit is located on the top floor and there is no elevator. Not a problem for us, but could be an issue for others. The way the building is set up is parking on ground level, than up one flight to the first floor of condos and then up another level to the second floor that this unit is located on.

WiFi signal is a little weak, but it does work.

i am tempted to say we had an awful stay in this apartment
because i wouldn't want it to be booked up the next time i want to rent it

a truly wonderful island
gulf front and an opportunity to get a bit fitter using the bicycles in the lock up fantastic views over the gulf
wonderful place to really chill out
the apartment its self is equipped to the highest standards and worth every penny of the rental rate
it is different from any where else in the world and deserves its number 10 place in the best islands in the world placings.
we will be back and would use this place again
