This AMAZING tropical estate is truly a Hawaiian Oasis!
Looking for a place that has it all? Beauty and Serenity. Gormet Kitchen. Private Pool, Spa and Tennis Court. Full time caretaker. Peacefulness. Close to town, beaches and airport. Experienced owners with great review ~ the Hawaiian Oasis is a treasure waiting for you!
Uniquely located near town, and easy to get north or south of Kona to explore the big island bypassing traffic, this location can't be beat. On two private landscaped acres in a quiet neighborhood, this is the ideal setting for your group, family gathering, personal/professional retreat, or celebration. This tropical estate is also offered as a B&B (except during holidays), and was noted as 'the best place to stay in Kona' according to the author of the 'Lonely Planet' Travel Guide. The lush and exotic grounds boast 50 varieties of palm trees, tropical flowers, fruit and fresh herbs to complete the meals prepared in your own gourmet kitchen.
The expanses of lawn, outdoor living areas, tiki bar, pool house and outdoor kitchen offer ideal gathering space, whether you're hosting a family reunion or a private gathering! Your privacy and personal space is never compromised, however, with many intimate indoor and outdoor spaces, including private lanais for each bedroom suite. The Hawaian Oasis Estate was designed with the Hawaiian 'Ohana' (family) and indoor-outdoor lifestyle in mind ~ spacious enough for everyone to have private quiet solitude, while facilitating people being together for meals, games, conversation and fun.
Decorated with elegant tropical furnishings, antiques and fine art, this light-filled contemporary Hawaiian home offers the best of island living. Massive Ohia wood poles support the two-story home, giving the covered outdoor living areas a sense of Old Hawaii.
Enter the home through etched glass front doors to a soaring atrium filled with tropical plants, slate floors, and stained glass windows. Ascend to the main living area, master suite, gourmet kitchen, dining area and outdoor living area. The sunset view from the lanai will take your breath away. Ahh, the end of another day in paradise!
Through the atrium downstairs you'll find the Music Room, a quiet lounging area with antique and playable Hawaiian instruments, vintage sheet music and instructional materials for those who have always wanted to learn to play the ukulele! The covered garden-level lanai is just outside, where you can curl up on the comfortable bamboo and rattan loungers with a book from the library, or snuggle up on the antique Balinese daybed with a MaiTai and someone special.
The three large downstairs bedroom suites (one in the adjacent building) are uniquely furnished with fine linens, Hawaiian quilts, and down pillows. Private living space in each suite allows personal time when traveling with a group. With the serenity of the gardens just outside and tropical birdsong in the air, it's the perfect excuse for an afternoon nap. If you're feeling more active, how about some laps in the waterfall-fed pool, a rousing game of tennis, or a stroll through our quiet neighborhood? It's all here at the Hawaiian Oasis, 'Your Place in Paradise'!
(Note: The suites in this home are also available individually at the 'Hawaiian Oasis B&B'- see the website for details.)

This is us, Peter and Darla, enjoying another day in paradise. We have owned the Hawaiian Oasis Estate and Bed and Breakfast since 2005. We first visited Kona in 2002, and the Big Island definitely hooked us,(after several trips to the other islands!) We bought our first oceanfront property on that first trip, a townhouse just south of Kona village. We have been blessed to now offer four homes in Kona, including the Hawaiian Oasis Estate which we purchased in 2005. Over the last few years we have been remodeling the Oasis suite by suite. After several years of serving our guests as Innkeepers, we now have Tom and Maye Johnson as our on-site caretakers and innkeepers. We have 3 grown children...a fine arts painter, a photographer/film maker, and a fashion designer. Our large extended family includes a growing number of pugs!
Peter and Darla purchased this estate in 2005
We fell in love with the property instantly upon entering the estate from the driveway (the Oasis has a way of doing that to people!) This is one of the most serene and peaceful places that we have ever closed our eyes and let the cares of the 'other' world disappear. As the morning sun rises over the Hualalai summit, the air around the Oasis is filled with birdsong, and one can't help but awaken with a smile and sense of awe. After many years of ownership, it is still as magical as the first day we found this gem.
The location of the Hawaiian Oasis makes it the perfect place to come home to while visiting the Big Island. It's a great launching spot no matter which way you're headed. We are 5 minutes from all Kona activities, but the serenity of the place feels like you are miles from anywhere. We love the bossy squawking of the wild parrots that have recently been hanging out in a big tree on the property, and the wild turkeys that innocently parade around like they own the place. Our neighbor grows some of the biggest mangoes we've ever seen, and occasionally one of those delectable beauties appears on the fruit platter for our B&B guests. It's pretty easy to forget that there are places to see and things to do once you get settled in here...maybe tommorrow...

"No place like this place..."
My wife and I returned from Kona last week (8/9/09) and we stayed at the Hawaiian Oasis B&B. I’ll start by just saying it was great! The Oasis has all the very lush, tropical foliage that one would expect (and more) from Hawaii and is just beautiful. If Hawaii has a feel, I think we found it here at the Oasis and I’m not bs-ing you. We stayed in the Aloha room for 7 nights and it is off the hook great! We looked at the other rooms and they are all very nice as well. The whole place is just very well taken care of and has a very nice feel when wandering around the lushness of the place. When we came back after a hard day of snorkeling and just goofing around the island...we gorged ourselves on the views of all the surrounding tropical foliage and of the ocean from the rooms lanai. The Oasis is an easy 5 minute or so drive into old Kona with all its restaurants and shops. Its also in what we considered an excellent location for getting everywhere, especially all the fantastic and un-crowded beaches. The beaches on this side of the island are just over the top beautiful and great for swimming , snorkeling and just plain kicking back. Getting back to the Oasis, the whole place is just straight-up nice and, well, so Hawaiian vacation like...usually up very early in the mornings...sip our Kona coffee on the lanai, grab some fruit and...we were out, off to enjoy the rest of the island, only to look forward to returning to the Oasis in late afternoon or evening...One of our favorite routines while there: After a day of snorkeling, swimming, 4WDing to get to some outrageous beaches...we’d stop off at the Harbor House (Honokohau Harbor) before retuning to the Oasis which is about 10 minutes away. Once there, we’d tip a couple of ice cold thick glass 18 oz. goblets of beer (only $3.) The food there is pretty good too. Cheers to the good life! I’m sure you could tell we’re pretty jazzed up about this place and Kona in general, we really enjoyed it. This was our third trip to Kona and hopefully we’ll be able to venture there again next year.
filled the house with family and friends from all over the world and the place was INCREDIBLE. I literally cried the morning we had to leave. The suites are all spacious and if you have kids, there is plenty of auxiliary sleeping area. The kitchen was constantly in action thanks to a surfeit of enthusiastic cooks and it more than held up to the task. And the tiki bar area.....man.....don't get me started! The long and short of it is, grab this house if you can. Downside? MTV took it over the day we left to use as a set for a reality series. Here's hoping they don't screw it up!
My group of friends and I, total of 17, spend a fantastic long weekend on the Big Island for 2014 Memorial Day weekend. Some of us stayed the full 5 nights while some stayed for 4 nights. Regardless the number night of stay, everyone LOVED the Hawaiian Oasis. My friends still talk about "the beautiful home in Hawaii" that I found. I got all the credit when it is really because Darla and Peter (owners) took time out to decorate the house and Mae and Tom, the innkeepers (and Dano, the former innkeeper that was transition out) made our stay so comfy. We felt like we were home.... but in our own "Real World" mansion. The beautiful pool, cooking on the BBQ after grabbing a ton of food from Costco, and the Hawaii atmosphere!!! We went snorkeling and didn't have to rent gear in town. We used the gear at the house. There are also beach towels for everyone! We were also able to do laundry (towels, personal clothing) so that was great (since hitting the beach everyday means a lot of wet clothes). Our stay was incredible. The one thing I did noticed that wasn't at the house at the time we were there is shampoo. We ended up buying/sharing shampoo because we couldn't find any around the house. But, everything else was plentiful. Oh, full kitchen, all the pots and pans, plates and much more. If we returned to Hawaii, I would definitely book at Hawaiian Oasis once again. :) Thank you Darla and Peter. Thank you Dano. Mae and Tom, we were your first group and thank you for all the yummy fruit plates you made us (as your guinea pigs.... They were great)! :) Thank you!!! :)
Our family of 16 including grandparents, three families and children ranging in age from 8 to 17 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawaiian Oasis. Each family had privacy in a bedroom suite with bath, both adults and children enjoyed the pool, tennis court and lovely grounds full of blooming tropical plants. The house is beautifully equipped - better than our kitchen at home. The innkeepers, Mae and Tom welcomed us upon arrival and were available for any questions we had about the home and the island. In the "beach shack" we found boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas, snorkeling equipment and other amenities to make for a happy beach experience. We recommend this home or groups that want time together as well as privacy. The property is convenient to the Kona International Airport and downtown Kona but in a very quiet residential neighborhood.
Our family of 12 rented the entire property for 10 days in December. The house is great for a large group as everyone had their own space within 5 bedrooms in the four suites (one suite has 2 bedrooms). The common living area and kitchen is very large and easily accomodates a group of 12. The yard is simply stunning; the pictures hardly do justice to this tropical oasis. The property is very private and spacious and there is something for everyone: pool, hot tub, tennis, badminton, and a tiki bar (equipped with sink, fridge, microwave and BBQ and restroom!). There is a lot of green space for little ones to run around freely.
There are some beaches located within Kona, we found there are fantastic, less-known white sand beaches with turquoise water with restrooms and showers 20-40 min drive from the property, which is definitely worth the trip. Volcano National Park can also be visited for the day from this property. There is also a tonne of information on what to see and do on the island in the house on the planning table.
This house is conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport, however, we never seen or heard the planes. Costco is 5 minutes away and shopping on Alii Drive is also a 5 minute drive with plenty of parking.
Dano, the inn-keeper, is very knowledgable and available to help us in whatever way we needed and is an all-around nice guy. The owners, Peter and Darla, were also fantastic to deal with.
My only caution would be for any light sleepers: It may be wise to pack ear plugs as wild roosters in the area have a tendency to make noise at different hours of the night. This affected some members of our group and not others.
Bottom Line: Do not hesitate to rent this property. You will not regret it. We would definitely consider returning in the future.
The Hawaiian Oasis was more than we expected. We had 10 people 6 adults and 4 teenagers. It was clean and the photos were exactly as posted. Everthing was clean and charming. The owners had answered all of our questions and were very helpfull in planning dinners and all activities. Would recommend this to friends and family members. The inkeepers were on hand at all times and very helpfull and frendly. Nice place to relax and to explore the island.
My wife and I got married at the Hawaiian Oasis on 09Jun12. The property more than met my expectations. Not only is the property gorgeous, but the grounds keeper Dano was very diligent and helped with every detail of our wedding. We set up a tent on the lawn, and had 96 people attend our wedding, and there was more than ample space. The rooms were very clean and the ammenities were top notch. I would definitely recommend this property families looking to vacation, or as a potential venue for a wedding. It's close to town/the beach and the property comes with snorkeling gear and boogey boards.
