Treziers House Rental Photos and Description

Central heating, 3/4 bedrooms, bathroom, WC, sleeps 6+, fireplace, and more

At the foot of the Pyrénées and in the heart of the quiet friendly village of Tréziers. Spectacular panoramic mountain views from both wide sunny garden terrace, and bedroom balcony. The striking interior has luxury modern furniture and decor. The house is spacious with a large living room, three bedrooms plus roomy attic. There is ample space for a large family or group of friends.

The house is on the village square, with its pretty round fountain. On its garden side the living room and main bedroom enjoy stunning mountain views. The immaculate new fitted kitchen is fully equipped, as is the new white-tiled bathroom. Full central heating and a log fire makes it warm in winter. There is satellite TV, wi-fi broadband, and an audio and video library. The living room opens onto a large terrace with glazed roof - excellent for winter sun. In the summer there is a barbecue and alfresco dining. Its the perfect place to just relax and enjoy, or to use as a base for an active holiday. Specialist service for cyclists.

Cycling and cycle hire: Quiet country roads and amazing scenery. Wide choice of terrain to suit all abilities. Easy valley routes, rolling countryside or rewarding climbs. A year round road-riders paradise, suitable for novices, leisure cyclists and club riders. Ideal year round base for two wheel holidays, or club training camps. The village is on a car free cycle route to nearby market towns of Mirepoix and Chalabre.

Mountain biking from the doorstep – for the ambitious you have access to the largest area of marked off-road bike trails in the Pyrénées - graded to suit all riders. Choice of routes - easy riding (green) for the leisure cyclist, varied (blue & red) through to serious stuff (black) for the experienced off-road rider.

Cycling maps and guides are provided. Race quality road bikes plus mountain bikes for hire - family discounts - details on request - see the hire bike stable on owner's web-site link below.

Walking, swimming, riding, sailing, ski: There is excellent walking from the front door. It's also an ideal location for day walks in the Eastern Pyrenees. The GR10 long distance footpath passes nearby and links to the 'Sentier Cathar'. If you prefer gentle walking in the foothills there is plenty of choice too. Walking guides, maps and suggested routes are provided. Nearby Lac Montbel a (20 min drive) provides swimming and sailing. Horseriding is popular locally too. In winter the ski station of Mont d'Olms is an hours drive, with more ski options from Ax-les-Thermes.

Cathar castles, bastide towns, French markets: You can see the famous Chateau Montseguer from the house, and closer by, the jagged Chateau de Laguard is a local landmark. If you're into exploring historic Cathar castles and medieval towns then look no further. The nearest local market at Mirepoix with its medieval town square, is every Monday - great fresh local produce in season - with more markets on other days in nearby towns. The Canal du Midi is less than an hour away at Castlenaudry. A choice of good restaurants all within easy reach.

French life in luxurious Maison de Village

  • 5 of 5
Sited next the mayors office you'll find this lovely village house with all the comfort and luxury you need. Cool inside when it's hot outside. Beautiful garden and views from it. At the front the famous fountain where at night the good French life is presented: villagers sitting on the numerous benches, enjoying each others company, watching the children play with the water from the fountain. Relaxing on your own bench in front of the house with a glass of wine in your hand. If only you could live here 365 days a year.

Wish we were still there!

  • 4 of 5
The property is a fabulous base and in a wonderful location with easy access to a wide variety of places to visit. The interior is fresh and modern and the terrace a great place to eat, drink and talk any time of the day and well into the late evening. Views from the master bedroom are stunning. It was lovely to take a stroll in the garden and the pond frogs provided a constant soundtrack throughout our stay! The property would benefit from a second bathroom hence being rated 4 star and not 5.

Very charming and designed house

  • 5 of 5
We spent excellent time in Treziers.
The house is very sunny, with a stuning view on the pyrennés montains and the beaufifull counrtyside all around.
The house is very confortable, very nice savvy design chairs, table, seats and great paintings for a relaxed but trenty feeling.
The garden is also very well organized with hint of Janapese spirit.
A house which I could easely recommend.

Wonderful house in beautiful village

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful holiday we had in this comfortable and stylish house with amazing views of the mountains. Hilltop village of Treziers is picturesque and locals very friendly. Walks and bikes rides from the doorstop (the owner has an exensive collection of bikes for hire - highly recommended). Lots to do and see nearby - lacs for swimming, lots of interesting towns and markets to visit, Cathar castles (Montsegur a must for the views alone)...

Hope to return again one day - would highly recommend.

A magical holiday

  • 5 of 5
Breath-taking views, the hoot of the bakers van in the morning carrying fresh croissants, the wonderful market at the beautiful medieval town of Mirepoix on your doorstep, sipping a chilled glass of wine on the great terrace, cycling through sunflower meadows, driving up through the mountains... Just a few of the delights of this adorable holiday house in Treziers, which I cannot recommend strongly enough. Book up now!

The historic ridge top village of Tréziers is in rolling wooded countryside on the Aude / Ariège border, overlooking the river l'Hers, with the jagged ruins of Château Lagarde behind. Beyond are unbroken views along the high Pyrénées chain, with the famous Cathar castle of Montségur standing prominently below them. If you enjoy historic towns, markets, Cathar castles, lakes, forests, walking, riding, sailing, swimming, or simply enjoy sunshine and French countryside, we think you'll love Tréziers. For cyclists it's a year-round paradise. Less than an hour from the famous medieval fortress town of Carcassonne and its international airport, Tréziers is an ideal base from which to explore the Eastern & Central Pyrénées, with easy access to the mountains and winter skiing. Tréziers is uniquely located to explore some of France's best kept secrets. Limoux - famous for its sparkling wine - is the nearest large town, and for shopping the medieval market town of Mirepoix is just 9k away.
