A Villa Holiday That Will Suit Anyone

We had expected the villa to be nice, but it was even nicer than expected, and spotlessly clean. The bed linen was crisp & fresh and the beds very comfortable.
The villa has been thoughtfully and comfortably furnished, and had everything we could possibly need, and is suitable for all ages, including families with young children.There was a very welcome gift waiting for us, and the owners, who are very helpful, had arranged for some provisions we had requested to be there when we arrived.
The location, just outside the main Porto da Cruz, was idyllic,with stunning views from the villa, and situated in a small village with a restaurant/bar and village store.
Madeira is a beautiful island, with a warm climate and with plenty of opportunities for walking ,including many levada walks. It is quite hilly as it is a volcanic island. You can walk from Porto Da Cruz to Mochino, but we took a taxi to a nearby village to miss out the extremely steep beginning, and walked the rest of the way. The public transport is excellent, (there is a bus stop almost opposite the villa) and we did quite a bit of sightseeing using the local buses, including visiting Funchal. However, to visit some locations, it is probably easier to rent a car.
The Madeiran people are very friendly, and appreciated our attempts to speak their language. Many spoke English, but those that didn't made efforts to understand and help us.
Madeira seems to be a place where all ages are welcomed and catered for, and people of all ages, including children, were in all the bars and restaurants.
We tried all the restaurants in Porto Da Cruz, and they were all good and reasonably priced. The first evening, we were rather late arriving, and the taxis had finished working by the time were were ready to go home. After cooking us a delicious meal, the chef drove us back to the villa, not wanting any payment for the lift. This seems typical of the attitude of the local people.
We would recommend this villa to anyone, and are going back there for another holiday later this year.
