Newly refurbished Bed & Breakfast property, with three double en suite rooms. Breakfast is taken in our south facing breakfast room, overlooking Lake Hallstatt. Our house is in an elevated position with a view of Lake Hallstatt. We have a sunny garden for relaxing in. For the comfort and safety of our guests, Haus Veronika is a no smoking bed and breakfast property. There are many activities to chose from in the Inner Salzkammergut region of Austria, from relaxing on the lakeside beach to paragliding. Take a leisurely boat trip around Lake Hallstatt or go walking on the many hiking trails. In winter ski or snowboard on the Krippenstein or take a dog sled ride. Snow shoeing and cross country skiing are also available in Obertraun.

Obertraun is a village situated on the shores of Lake Hallstatt, in the Inner Salzkammergut region of Austria. The Inner Salzkammergut is a region packed with a variety of attractions. Since December 1997, a large part of this region has been honored with a position on the UNESCO World Heritage list. With this distinction, the region joins the ranks of other prestigious UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Pyramids, the ruins of Pompei, the Great Wall of China, and the Galapagos Islands. With its unique network of caves and variety of flora and fauna, the region is considered a complex phenomenon. It is not only a cultural heritage site but also has the distinction of being a natural heritage location as well. With this international honor the region finds itself in an exclusive circle among UNESCO World Heritage sites. Ayers Rock in Australia and the Philippine Islands are the only other UNESCO sites which the aspects of both nature and culture so are uniquely combined.

Wonderfuy week at Haus Veronika

We have just returned from a week spent in Obertraun at Haus Veronika and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for bed and breakfast accomodation in that area. The rooms are a good size and are well furnished with en suite facilities. Rooms have recently been refurbished and the standard of cleanliness was very high. One of our rooms had a balcony with tables and chairs and a wonderful view down to the lake. Tea and coffee making facilities are available and after day one, our breakfast choice of tea was added to the selection in the room which was a thoughtful touch. Breakfast comprised of cereals, yoghurts, frruit juice, cheeses, rolls, bread, jam and honey and there was always plenty to eat. Our hostess recommended several excellent walks and activities for a rainy day and was always on hand if we needed assistance with any aspect of our stay.
Obertraun is easily accessible by train for those wishing to travel without a car.
