A two-bedroomed purpose built holiday home

Situated in a small wooded valley at the foot of Bodmin Moor, 'Squirrels Leap' is an ideal place to 'relax and get away from it all'. You are surrounded by typical Cornish countryside while remaining within easy reach of many attractions, including Looe, Polperro and many of Cornwall's lovely National Trust properties and gardens. The world famous Eden Project is also within a 40 minute drive.

There is a Pub/restaurant just a short stroll away and many other eating places in the area.

*** Must stress though, this is a quiet and peaceful place, not an 18-30 style holiday camp! ***

This well-equipped, purpose built holiday bungalow is double-glazed throughout and offers you comfortable, self-catering accommodation for up to five people in a peaceful and relaxing environment.

Entry through the side door leads directly into the lounge which features soft seating for five people, television with DVD and the night storage heater. The adjoining dining area comfortably seats five people around a pine table.

The well-equipped kitchen provides you with a four-ring electric hob, oven, microwave, fridge, toaster and a good supply of utensils, cutlery and crockery. Enough here to prepare a wide range of meals for the family, should you wish to do so.

As well as a double bed the main bedroom includes storage space and a bedside cabinet and lamp.

The twin room has a set of pine bunk-beds and a single bed and also offers a pine wardrobe, bedside table, television and DVD..

Both bedrooms are equipped with electric wall heaters.

The bathroom offers a WC, wash-basin, shaver point, bath and electric shower.

Outside is a patio with garden furniture, including a table and four chairs.

The bungalow has one allocated parking space with more available on request.

Although this and our other bungalows are all wonderful places to ‘get away from it all’ and to spend time in a peaceful and relaxing environment, they are also well situated as a ‘centre’ from which to visit some of the many attractions in south-east Cornwall and south-west Devon.

The fishing villages of Looe, Polperro and Mevagissey are a short drive away. Golitha Falls are just a five minute drive from Mallards. Sibleyback and Colliford Lakes, both within 20 miutes, offer fishing and water sports as well as nature walks.

Ramblers have the expanse of Bodmin Moor, and even Dartmoor, given a short car trip.

Garden lovers and National Trust members are spoilt for choice in Cornwall. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydroc, Boconnoc, Cothele and many more.

Children can be entertained at Dobwalls Theme Park (5 minutes away), Trethorne Leisure Farm (30 minutes away), or any of the beaches on the North or South coasts.

Golf: There are several golf courses within an hours drive, including the famous St. Mellion golf and country club. Other courses at Looe, Launceston, St. Austell, Trethorne and Bodmin.

Nice property but the park not quite as expected

We booked this stay at late notice and have nothing negative to say about the booking process, dealing with the owner or the property itself at all. It was all as described, well-looked after and dealing with Andy was a pleasure.

However, Rosecraddoc park itself wasn't quite what we expected. The onsite bar/restaurant was closed at least one of the days of the week we were there, which in the height of the summer period was surprising to say the least.

Also, the park/bar could've done with some facilities for younger children. The Rosecraddoc website says "Ideal venue for all the family" - we are a young family with children of ages 6, 4 & 3 and when visiting the bar of an evening there was nothing for the kids to (excect run around!!) - the facilities in the bar are aimed more at older children/young adults.

All of that said, the park was very quiet and had a friendly feeling about it and the staff in the bar were very friendly and helpful when we visited.

"Rosecraddoc is a quiet wooded valley. It has all the sights and senses of being in the country. All on your doorstep. If your family enjoys these experiences this location is for you. We have plenty of suggestions in the bungalow to fill your time."

My own response, as the person taking your booking on behalf of the owner is:
"Our typical visitors tend to be either older couples or those with young families. Many of those with young children enjoy the fact that the location is quiet and 'off-road', allowing the children greater freedom in the grounds than possible in many other locations, something our own two children have certainly enjoyed for some years. The Village Inn is a separate concern and I can't always guarantee opening times, although I am surprised that it was not open every evening in July. I am pleased that the accommodation itself was to your liking and thank-you for your positive feedback on the service/booking proceedure."

The cottage was clean and well equipped. The park was tranquil and the surrounding nature was very lovely. We had a very good time at Rosecraddoc, despite the rain. We hope to visit Cornwall again in a few years time.

Great value for money. Home from home

Me and my family stayed for a short break with our dog in April 2012. On booking the break the manager was extremely helpful. The property was very well located and we visited the Eden Project, Looe and Newquay which were all reachable within 45 mins. We also went for lovely walks with the dog and loved Golitha falls. The property has everything you need, is clean and very cosy. The children had a lovely time. The holiday park the property is located on is very well maintained and clean and quiet with lovely views. The pub located on the site was very friendly. We had a lovely break and was sad to leave. We found the property great value for money and hope to be back in the future.

Squirres Leap

Stayed two weeks in August 2011. Negatives: decor little tired in places, condensation issue as patches of mould and kitchen cooker not clean (a little odd as drawers and cutlerly etc were very clean) Positives: homely, very well equipped, plenty of clean bedding, relaxing and set in lovely surrounds. Overall good value for money. I think if the smaller issues are addressed (i.e fresh lick of paint etc) it would be a little treasure of a bungalow.. Note you will need a car.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children

We appreciate that parts of the bungalow are in need of a lick of paint and we have an ongoing 'redecoration schedule'. The areas you mention have now been completed during the Christmas period, ready for 2012. We have also replaced carpets throughout the property, installed some extra ventilation and will also have a new cleaner this season, so hopefully, visitors this year will get even better value for money!
