This is the ideal get away for those who enjoy comfort, natural beauty and a wide variety of vacation activities. Our log home is situated in Westminster West, mid-way between Saxons River and Putney, in an area renown for its wonderful galleries, artist studios and music festivals. Putney is seven miles away with its general store, bookshop and bakery, gift shops, diner and the Sandglass Puppet Theatre. This secluded vacation home overlooks two stream-fed ponds and is set in its own thirty five acres site with wonderful trails for hiking and cross country skiing right from the door. There is trout fishing and swimming in the ponds in the summer and skating in the winter. Okemo, Mount Snow and Stratton are 40 minutes drive for downhill skiing.

The cabin is in Westminster West, 7 miles from the villages of Putney and Saxons River and 12 miles from Brattleboro with its active arts program, entertainment and shopping. In summer the Connecticut and West Rivers are close by for tubing, boat and canoe rental and in winter, there are 4 different ski areas within 40 minutes drive. (Killington, Okemo, Mt Snow and Stratton).

Notes: The cabin is a much loved holiday home, ideal for anyone who loves nature and the outdoor life. It is warm and cosy with two open fireplaces, so great for winter escapes as well as summer. Stylishly furnished. it is well equipped with a supply of skates, snow shoes and cross country skis for renters to use. The property has a large covered porch with Adirondak chairs, hammock etc overlooking the ponds, a mud room off the kitchen, cloakroom on the ground floor and a separate utility room with washer and dryer. The lounge has a cathedral style ceiling with minstrel’s gallery overhanging it, piano and open stone fireplace and the family room on the lower floor has a large t.v., sound system and shelves stuffed with books and games.

Location: The log home is a two hour ten minute drive from Boston's Logan Airport and a three and a half hour drive from New York. Montreal is a five hour drive away.

We spent a week in this property in July 2008 after two city breaks in Boston and New York. The peace and tranquility of this location was perfect for us after the hustle and bustle of the cities. The cottage is very private and deceptive from the outside appearance. The kitchen was very well equiped and the piano meant that we could enjoy music of our own somewhat amateur making.

The lack of mobile phone coverage and internet availability was not a hindrance as it was part of the the away from it all feeling .
