not totally private
Review Submitted: September 1, 2009

on the whole a great place, but not so private half the pool is over looked by the villa next door, and because there are new villas being built just below, the site was loud at times, my girl friend was not happy as the builders could see you getting in and out of the pool,
we wanted a private villa it was not,
the pool was cleaned when ever they liked so it did not feel as if we could relax as they would let them selfs in if after ringing the bell no one opened door,
if your not to worried about being private it is lovely
Owner's Response: Thank you for the comments on my home, Marona - it is good to get feedback ; both positive and negative and I am really pleased that you had a great fortnight at Marona and found Marona 'lovely' and 'a great place' . The Housekeeper was pleased to leave you complimentary champagne for your stay as it was your honeymoon.
The pool cleaning is always done on Tuesday and Friday (between 9-11AM ) as stated in the comprehensive handbook supplied for guests, and the Management team always ring the bell and wait before entering the property to respectfully allow guests their privacy. Often guests are out when they call so they have been instructed to do this and if no one answers the door they will obviously use their keys to enter. The times can unfortunately change due to fluctuating work loads and pool cleaning requirements by other villa owners as they have many to clean in the high season, and the housekeeper will always try to let guests know in advance should this occur. Obviously some flexibility has to be allowed for and the door can always be locked, and the keys left in, if guests are at all uncomfortable about this. The guest can then take responsibility for letting them themselves.
The privacy of Marona is truly wonderful as can be read by all the many other reviewers comments - the next door property is owned by a BA pilot who does not rent his house to the public or indeed it seems, visit the property for himself : I have never met him in 8 years or seen anyone at this house. Marona faces away from this direction and the pool cannot be viewed from this property.
The neighbouring Greek cypriot Vasilis, down in the valley beyond Marona, has followed the trend in Cyprus and has applied for permission to build on his land. As per the 2009 proposed building requirement, he has put down the road and services across his land and has advertised this land as for sale.
To date no plots have yet been sold and I am doubtful that any have or will be sold in the foreseeable future and any future building work would present minimal disruption to guests at Marona as we are located far above any potential work.
As you can see from the pictures, the views are absolutely breathtaking, the house is located really high on the outskirts of this tiny village and the uninterupted views are wonderful far across to the hills beyond.
Marona is a wonderful house and continues to be wonderfully private as all previous guests report.
