Overview

Lugnano in Teverina Villa Rental Photos and Description

6+1 double bedrooms, 4+1 bathrooms, sleeps 12-14

This recently restored 19th century farmhouse is 1km from the town of Lugnano in Teverina, a charming place 1000 feet above the Tiber River with shops and grocery stores, 10km from Attigliano on the “autostrada” and the main train line from Rome to Florence.

The Villa, which has been renovated in full harmony with the stunning surroundings, has nevertheless kept its original feeling. Antique furnishing and comfort are successfully blended to make our guests feel at home. From the lawns running down to the swimming pool (7mX15m) one can relax and enjoy the sunset, the view of the medieval village and the monastery of Saint Francis.

While children play in the equipped play-ground, cooking can be done outside on the barbecue and pizzas can be baked in the the original country oven .Certified organic extra virgin olive oil produced on the land .

Splendid Farmhouse Haven!

  • 5 of 5

As I sit looking across the New York City skyline on this dismal cold and rainy November day, I long for the bucolic serenity of the Farmhouse, the retreat haven of choice for our extended family trips for the last 10 years. The house is within an hour from Todi, Narni, Orvieto; and an hour and a half from Rome, Montepulciano and Perugia, about two hours to Florence, and four and half hours to Venice. There are plenty of day trips or 2-3 day jaunts you can do when you make the Farmhouse your base. Or, as we’ve increasingly done over the years, you can just stay put and enjoy the house, pool, and nearby hill town Lugnano in Teverina. Some of my best days have been spent there—playing with my kids, talking with family by the pool, cooking together, planning out the days, writing songs. The owners are the ideal hosts and always seem to have trips, events, or sites of interest to share. You never know what you might experience at the Farmhouse and its environs, like touring new construction in Lugnano, finding the perfect ceramic bowl at Ceramika, or unexpectedly discovering Bomarzo’s 16th Century Park of Monsters! We all travel to move, to be moved, and sometimes move on.The farmhouse is the perfect place to accomplish your travel objective, whatever it may be!

A Little Bit of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

It was our good luck to find Villa Torricello for our first trip to Italy in 2005: I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The old farmhouse has been thoughtfully restored so as not to lose any of its picturesque charm in the addition of just the right amount of modern conveniences; it still feels authentic and has enormous aesthetic appeal. Situated in the midst of an olive grove on the side of a hill slightly below a hill town, it overlooks scenic countryside and mountains to the south; hanging laundry on the line is a delight in such surroundings. It has a beautiful pool and a delightful terrace for al fresco dining. We love that it is not air-conditioned--the thick walls and fans keep the inside pleasant on the hottest days and a dip in the spring fed pool will top off the cooling. We came back in 2009, 2012, and again in 2014: it is an ideal place for our far-flung extended family to get together: the children are happy because the adults, sated with delicious food, wine, history and art, are all so relaxed and happy! A full moon is an incredible treat; festivals and tavernas in the surrounding villages indulge our love of all things Italian. If only it didn't take a 9-hour flight to get there . . . highly recommended, but don't fill it up before I get back.

Perfect getaway with exceptional service

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this lovely place with a group of 14 people. The group consisted of couples and children (age 0,5-1,5). Each couple had their own rooms and some of the rooms were big enough to put sleeping beds for the children.. In this villa you have a big private garden with olive trees, rosemary bushes and a pool with an amazing view over the landscape. The town is just 10 minutes away by walking (with a shop and a nice little cafe).

The owner was extremely helpful. He cooked us an amazing pizza dinner in the villa's own stone oven, organized a wine tour, brought a real Italian mother to cook dinner for us and helped with everything.

The atmosphere on site was relaxing and felt authentic Italian. It is lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine and just enjoy the peacefulness.

I would warmly recommend this place to everyone aiming for a relaxing Italian holiday.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

The house was incredibly beautiful and very comfortable even with a large group. Each couple had their own room and one stayed in the lovely cottage by the pool. The pool is enormous and the view of Lugnano especially with sun setting is lovely. Lugnano is a small and remarkably well preserved midevil town with 12th century church and small bakery with delicious croissants. It is a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the house. The hosts are gracious, helpful and always available. We are hoping to return next year.

Umbria, and this village in particular is such a mysterious region, so close to everything & at the same time so remote & peaceful. In these little villages, people have such a contemplative, in some way ascetic way of life so remarkably different from the rest of Italy. Life is relaxed, and nature is so splendid with unspoilt hills & an abundance of wildlife; plenty of places to visit & excursions to the nearby 'citta' d'arte' where history unfolds itself revealing hidden treasures of past medieval life. From such a strategic location you can reach Florence in one hour & forty-five minutes and Rome in only one hour. From Villa Torricello, within one hour, you can find yourself in Perugia, Assisi,Orvieto & Todi with their Gothic cathedrals or Montefalco, where you can admire the beautiful Gozzoli frescoes. For children, we recommend Bomarzo with its 'Garden of Monsters', a XVI century amusement park. A must.
