About Mr Ian Johnson

Fifteen years ago we finally realized our long held dream and myself, Ian, Jeannie my wife and our two girls set off from England for our new life on the warm and sunny island of Crete.

We had already purchased a plot of land with a house and one acre of orange trees and olive trees.

In the time honored fashion of the island it took over a year to overcome the paperwork and legalities connected with our purchase but then we were able to start our huge project.

The gardens and villas slowly took shape, each year bringing exciting changes as the trees and plants matured. The result is now three villas set in beautiful gardens.

Having been to Greece on previous occasions we wanted to make the accommodation spacious. A large bathroom was a must and raised sun terraces were top priority.

We wanted to create individual privacy without being isolated and a pool that you could really swim in.

We are very fortunate that we are only a short distance from Chania, the principal town and we also determined to be affordably priced, a place for people to relax.

We aim to create integrity and customer care. We are here on site for the duration of your stay to make sure everything runs smoothly for you

Blissful week in Crete

Fantastic grounds and pool, villa excellent value for money and exactly as web site pictures show. Ian was very helpful and got us in some supplies for the first mornings breakfast. Enjoyed Aptera, Chania, Bali beach, Samaria gorge and some time spent relaxing by the pool

Great location for a peaceful holiday in the sun

The villa was exactly as describe but the photos don't give you the sense of size and it was larger than I thought! The directions were really helpful as its off the road and a very quiet location. The accommodation was really comfortable and everything you could need. Really nice to have homely touches like clingfilm, foil and salt and pepper.
The pool was a great size and suitable to do lengths. The gardens were really beautiful and so well maintained. Plenty of sun loungers and it never felt crowded even with other families about. Ian was a super host with lots of tips for getting about if you needed them. The pets were a great addition with Daisy and Brian keeping us amused. A good base to visit the restaurants in Hania as well as get out and about. We visited Knossos - quite a drive but great and Aptera for old ruins. Elafonissi was a beautiful but busy beach - long and winding road there though. The beaches on the north coast have lots of waves but also have life guards and red flags etc.
In terms of restaurants - lots in Hania we visited Tamam, Tholos, Sirteki, Apostoli and Eva - all great as well as Cretan corner in Aptera and The Olive Tree along the coast. All good food and not too expensive.We had a fab boat trip with Nick from the harbour in Hania - excellent snorkelling and octopus catching!!
I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who would enjoy lots of space, peace and quiet.

Lovely Grounds & Great Location

Have just returned from a lovely two weeks in Crete. Plenty of sunshine and relaxation.
One of the reasons we booked this villa was because there were no pets allowed - I'm allergic to cats and dogs. Unfortunately, on arrival it was clear there were numerous resident cats (who, throughout our stay were always in and out of the villa, to my daughters joy!), a couple of large dogs and several chickens. They were all very cute, but if you suffer with allergies then not so good.
The villa itself was as the description said, minus the dishwasher, but I have to say that we still found it rather basic. It wasn't clear to us from the description that there would be no living room (although looking back now, we see there is not one stated.) All the rooms are entered separately from the terrace: the bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. The bedrooms can be locked from inside or out but if you have young children then this is not ideal. The patio table and chairs on the terrace acts as your communal living space. It is a lovely area with a smashing view of the gardens and large pool, but if you want to get out of the heat for a while then your only option is one of the bedrooms with air conditioning. The kitchen is adequate, with pretty much everything you would need but could use air conditioning as it gets very hot especially when cooking. If you have the door open, the cats are all over the work surfaces and tables.
We did have a couple of issues with the hot water (or lack of it), but to be fair, the owner had very recently had an accident and was at that time in hospital, so hiccups like this we could understand.
The grounds were beautiful and well tended and the pool was large with plenty of sunbeds and room for soaking up the sun and relaxing.
The location was great, if a little hard to find at first, especially as we arrived at night. It was within easy reach of Chania (absolutely beautiful old town and harbour), Rethymnon etc and lots of lovely beaches. Try Stavros beach - gorgeous - nice and shallow, great for young kids. Great pizza restaurant - Gustosa on the way to Stavros, brilliant food and great service. We went off to Heraklion one day (the capital of the island) - a long drive and really not worth it. Georgiopolis is worth a visit, if only for the photos of the little church out in the sea which is reached by a narrow, rocky path. The kids loved it!
All in all, a great holiday and a nice enough villa, just needs a bit of updating.

The term no pets allowed is intended for renters,and we apoligise for any misunderstading. We do have pets,fish and birds associated with the grounds as with most Greek establishments.
The diswasher was replaced with a washing machine by polpular requests to enable a reduction in luggage weight.

The town of Chania being only 4 km, or a short bus ride offers the atmosphere of a traditional Venetian harbour with historical buildings, plenty of shops, tavernas, restaurants and beaches. Boat trips leave the harbour several times a day.

Only 20 minutes by car is Aptera the famous Roman city with its baths and water cisterns, theatre and villas.

The Samaria gorge and the Imbros gorge are within easy reach. Wind surfing, walking, snorkling and horse riding make our location ideal for people wanting activity together with relaxation, the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Island of Crete.
