About Mr Ian Johnson

Thirteen years ago we finally realized our long held dream and myself, Ian, Jeannie my wife and our two girls set off from England for our new life on the warm and sunny island of Crete.

We had already purchased a plot of land with a house and one acre of orange trees and olive trees.

In the time honored fashion of the island it took over a year to overcome the paperwork and legalities connected with our purchase but then we were able to start our huge project.

The gardens and villas slowly took shape, each year bringing exciting changes as the trees and plants matured. The result is now three villas set in beautiful gardens.

Having been to Greece on previous occasions we wanted to make the accommodation spacious. A large bathroom was a must and raised sun terraces were top priority.

We wanted to create individual privacy without being isolated and a pool that you could really swim in.

We are very fortunate that we are only a short distance from Chania, the principal town and we also determined to be affordably priced, a place for people to relax.

We aim to create integrity and customer care. We are here on site for the duration of your stay to make sure everything runs smoothly for you

Mr Ian Johnson purchased this villa in 2000

Why Mr Ian Johnson chose Chania

Its the ideal location to explore the west of Crete, an oasis within a short distance to Chania harbour

What makes this villa unique

The gardens with trees, shrubs, and lawns watered from our own well, Its has a large swimming pool of 165 sq meters. The properties and gardens give you a unique sense of space. There are three dogs and several cats giving interest and security in the secluded grounds.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A Beautiful Relaxing Oasis

  • 4 of 5
I really don't know were to start, we have such a lovely holiday. We stayed in the Jasmine Villa, well laid out, lots of little extras which was a very pleasant suprise. The whole villa was spotless including the bedding and towels. When I first arrived - I thought "Oh dear!" no microwave, not a problem. There was a lovely clean cooker which we hardly used. Ian the owner was so helpful on a number of occasions, taxis's, car hire, and places to visit. His local knowledge helped to enhance our holiday. The beautiful grounds are accredited to Ian's wife, and the reason for my review title. The security of the area is well monitored by "Brian". Loved it so much I'm visiting again in September.

Jasmine Villa, Chania

  • 5 of 5
We returned yesterday from one of the best holidays that we, as a family, have ever enjoyed. This was largely due to the nature of the accommodation.

There is a lovely big pool, which suited our needs entirely. In the spacious grounds there are three villas with easy access to the pool. There are more than ample sun beds to lie on which are on luxuriant grass. I have rarely seen such good grass or gardens in the Mediterranean. I had several "life doesn't get any better than this" moments whilst lying on a lilo in the pool enjoying the surroundings and watching a pair of hoopoes (very pretty birds), which come down to eat the insects in the lawn.

Jasmine villa had everything that we could have wanted to meet our everyday needs. Air conditioning is great and it enabled us to have sound and untroubled sleep. We spent little time in the villa itself, as the terrace was so delightful with a lovely view during the day and in the evening. The other two villas looked just as nice. The parking was good with a small but ample car park less than a minute's walk from the villas.

We did not feel inclined to go out too much because the villa, gardens and pool were so enjoyable but there is plenty to do within easy driving distance. Chania is about fifteen minutes away in the car and there is relatively good and free parking. Chania is beautiful, has a wealth of history and oodles of unique shops, bars and restaurants. We found the leatherwork particularly attractive and at reasonable prices. Be prepared to haggle. It can be fun and financially rewarding. Freddie and Lisa, who live in the house by the car park, have a terrific high-speed boat, which they take out from a nearby harbour and conduct a trip around Theodori Island. We found the hour long (actually 1 hr 15 mins) trip with snorkelling to be excellent value at 15 euros each. Details on this and other activities can be found in the villas.

I cannot end without a few words about the owners, Ian and Jeanie, who were the perfect hosts. We have sometimes found it difficult when the owners live close by but this was not the case with this couple who were accessible when needed but not in any way intrusive. Thank you both for enabling us to have such a wonderful holiday.

A lovely break

  • 4 of 5
We had a very restful break at Jasmine. It's a slightly unusual building in that it seems to be two building connected together but once you have got your head round that it really is a cute villa. The grounds are lovely and we were fortunate enough to be there in late May when all the flowers were out which was very impressive. My two boys loved the pool and spent most of the holiday in it. Ian is a great bloke who gave plenty of local tips and was very generous with the lemons from his lemon tree (absolutely delicious). The villa is well located for Chania and the Western beaches with literally dozens of beaches to choose from within 5-45 minutes drive. Equally there are as many tavernas. If you are looking for fine dining then you will be a bit disappointed but if it's good grub with friendly service then you are in the right place.

All in all we had a great time. Thanks, Ian!

Calme et bien placé

  • 5 of 5

Situated on the edge of the village of Tsikalaria, tavernas, shops and bus stops are within walking distance.

The town of Chania being only 4 km, or a short bus ride offers the atmosphere of a traditional Venetian harbour with historical buildings, plenty of shops, tavernas, restaurants and beaches. Boat trips leave the harbour several times a day.

Only 20 minutes by car is Aptera the famous Roman city with its baths and water cisterns, theatre and villas.

The Samaria gorge and the Imbros gorge are within easy reach. Wind surfing, walking, snorkling and horse riding make our location ideal for people wanting activity together with relaxation, the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Island of Crete.
