Guestbook comments from the owner
Our stay at the apartment of Roberto Cacciatori was beyond our expectations. The apartment itself is simply and beautifully decorated, has all the accouterments of home, and is immaculately clean. The location is ideal, within a minute's walk of the charming center of the ancient hill town of San Casciano, and an easy drive or bus ride to Siena and Florence. Parking in a private and secure area is provided with the rent, so that it is possible to explore the beautiful Tuscan and Chianti countryside, then return at the end of the day away from the turmoil of the cities. Most of all, we appreciated the gracious (and complete privacy) offered by the host family. We hope to return to this very setting before too long!

Roberto,

Here is a copy of the review, but the system still will not let me enter my response. I have tried several times to reregister my password and user I.D., but without success! Perhaps you can somehow enter this review from Italy.

Buona sera!

A Delightful Experience

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I spent 10 wonderful days and nights in Roberto's apartment in San Casciano. We could not have dreamed of a better experience. The apartment is lovely, with every convenience, and it is kept immaculately clean by the owners. There is a beautiful garden in the back where we relaxed in the evening, with a glass of the excellent local wine. There are several great restaurants within easy walking distance. If you choose to cook for yourself, there are wonderful delicatessens and produce shops steps from the apartment.
The apartment is also very well situated for sightseeing, and there is no need to have a car. It is a very short walk to the bus stop that takes you to Florence, and from Florence there are buses available to many of the wonderful sites of Tuscany.
Enough cannot be said of the hospitality of Roberto and his family. We were as sad to leave them as to leave the wonderful apartment and village. There is no doubt we will return, and next time for a longer stay.

in the centre of a superb bustling town

  • 4 of 5
The flat was much better than we thought it would be from the photos and is tastefully decorated. Roberto is superb and very helpful. He gave us a copy of the book he has written about the region He had thought of everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The little shady terrace is a lovely place to sit and meditate when the sun cools down but the access is not easy for carrying things out for eating .. it was too hot anyway. San Casciano is a busy and attractive town which makes it lovely to stay in but does mean it is rather noisy late at night and early in the morning. Take ear plugs! We do not hesitate to recommend this lovely flat and would happily go back.

Wonderful spot, wonderful people

  • 5 of 5
Our family spent three marvelous weeks in this lovely apartment. We enjoyed every minute of it, and once in a while skipped a trip to Florence just to remain in the atmosphere of San Casciano, and spend quiet times in the charming garden with its olive trees and panoramic views.
We knew from the reviews that the apartment is immaculate and comfortable, but we had the surprise of finding a beautifully tended garden and a town with both tranquil and active times during the day, as well as a community with a vibrant Catholic Church, with much care for the young generation. We especially appreciated this peek into Italian life at its best - since the town is not suffocated by tourism.
Roberto, Anna and the rest of their family were more than helpful, allowing us all our privacy, while being there for every need, and Roberto offered us some wonderful trips around, to Siena and San Gimigniano. We were truly at home.
For us, it was the best place we've found to date, with especially kind, knowledgeable and distinguished hosts.
We strongly hope and wish to return, as soon as possible.
A last note: you don't have to worry about the elevator in the parking lot - it works 24/7 now, so you can easily retrieve your car at any time.

Owner's Response: Like many other guests you have appreciated the cleanliness of the apartment and its amenities, plus you were lucky enough to be here in the most beautiful month, in May, with a garden full of roses. The security of the country, the Italian life, the convenience of transport, are the things that make a beautiful holiday. Thanks again for choosing my apartment. Roberto

Best place we found on our two months in Italy

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just spent two whole months traveling all over Italy, renting apartments, staying in B&B's and hotels. Originally I was hesitant about not staying right in the town of Florence but finding this apartment in the small village of San Casciano was a blessing in disguise. I am a Photographer and what a blessing to spend three weeks in the middle of the Tuscany area in time for the autumn colors. That would have been enough but to top it off our hosts Roberto was a published author and retired history teacher and gave us recommendations that we could not have gotten from a travel book or site. (Not to mention the plate of cookies he surprised us with!)
I am jealous of whoever may be living in "our" apartment right now and long to be back there. Roberto had thought of everything to make our stay very cozy. He also surprised us with his home pressed olive oil and invite to a community play.
FIVE STAR for sure!

Owner's Response: Autumn in Chianti is great. This year was even better because of good weather. Choosing the autumn for a holiday in Chianti, for a photographer, is the best choice. Thank you for your courtesy.

San Casciano Hidden Treasure...

  • 5 of 5
The Hosts: Roberto and his family are excellent hosts. Good English, very friendly, very helpful, very caring and very informative. We felt like we were family house guests.

The Apartment: In a word, fantastic. Perfectly as described online. In the heart of the town so we could walk to everything. Free car parking in the underground car park in the adjacent and new bus station complex. Lift from town street level to car park and bus station. Three minute walk from apartment to car.

The Town: San Casciano is a great Italian town. Big enough to have everything including great restaurants and small enough to still have a friendly village atmosphere. San Casciano is unspoilt by mass tourism, so you can experience the authentic, friendly Italian village. After just a week we were greeting people in the street like we were locals, despite the language barrier. The locals are very welcoming and friendly. San Casciano is well serviced with regular (half hourly in peak times), fast (30 to 40 minutes) and cheap (2.80 euro single one way) bus transport to the heart of Florence. We visited Florence several times using the bus, it was very easy, and avoided the stress of driving and parking.

The Area: Florence, Siena and Chianti; You could take a lifetime of holidays in this region and still have things to do and see.
