Southole Barns are beautifully situated at the top of a south facing valley in a designated Coastal Preservation Area & Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Barns sit within a peaceful & secluded setting & enjoy amazing views over the surrounding countryside.

The South West Coastal Path is within 150 meters, providing uninterrupted cliff top & coastal walks along it's rugged coastline, renowned for its dramatic scenery and breathtaking sea views & shipwrecks . It's also close to many stunning & secluded sandy & rock-pool beaches.

The Barns are a courtyard of former Victorian Monastery buildings that have been beautifully converted to a very high standard over the past 3 years, to form 4 exclusive & unique self catering properties.

The courtyard is laid to cobbled & slate, with beautiful raised flower beds, including Fig & Ornamental Artichoke and new for 2014 a beautiful LA hot tub, sitting within 4 acres of gardens & meadow land with a charming stream fed pond.

Clovelly Barn is a light and airy two storey barn conversion facing down the valley, providing living room/dining room area with vaulted ceiling and exposed wooden roof trusses, wood flooring throughout, a brand new wood burning stove fitted in 2014, separate fitted kitchen with rustic tiled floor and built in security stair gate. Ground floor master bedroom (double bed) with exposed stone wall and panoramic countryside views over the valley. At first floor level is a twin bedroom with skylight to panoramic countryside views and a shower room (baby cot, highchair & bath available on request). Dear Seldon,
we all enjoyed the stay in our barn. Everything was there and we felt like home. Our son Lukas (11 years old) was very happy to find some friends in the nice and very green garden around the house: two ducks and three chicken. The beautiful landscape together with the perfect accommodation made us a great week. For sure we will recommend this lovely place to our friends and of course hope to return once more. We will keep the memories of these very special days with us.

Hidden Gem on the North Devon Coast

We had a fabulous short break in North Devon staying at the gorgeous Southole Barns. We stayed in Clovelly Barn which was stylish & clean with excellent facilities - a real home from home. We loved the added thoughtful touches of a cream tea awaiting our arrival (delicious), the DVD library & the honesty bar & freezer full of delcious meals should you decide on an evening in! Our host, Sheldon, was exceptionally helpful & gave us great recommendations for local pubs & places of interest - all of which we did & enjoyed. The Barns are a very short walk away from the stunning Devon Coast path & we defy anyone one wont enjoy taking a bottle of wine up to the bench over looking the bay to watch the sun go down!! We have recomended Southole to friends & will definately return in the future.

Great family break

My family and I enjoyed a lovely week-long break here in early Summer 2012. We were impressed with Greenway Barn: it was nicely fitted out and very comfy. The log burner was a nice touch and we liked the small, private garden too. The owner was friendly and welcoming and evidently puts a lot of time into keeping the grounds in good order. The place feels really quite remote, but made a good base from which to explore the local area. Even when the weather was a bit iffy and we didn't get out much, the Barn was a nice place in which to relax.

Our special time at Southole barns

The time at Clovelly barn was one of our best vacations in the last years. The beautiful landscape, the apartments, the people there and even the very good weather was together a mixture of impressions, we never had before. Our little daughter (8 years) said, that this trip was the best vacation she ever had in her life. Also thank you for all your support, so we felt immediately home and the quietness, that helped to relax. we will keep the time there always in memory as very wonderful and good time.

Such a remote spot but ideal for peaceful exploration of such a fabulous, dramatic coastline. And being able to sip champagne whilst watching the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean was simply stunning! Southole Barns are located in the small hamlet of Southole within the Parish of Hartland and 1 1/2 miles from unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach. The village of Welcombe is less than 1 mile away with its Church, Village Hall, Pottery, our Community Shop and a Thatched Public House 'The Old Smithy Inn' which is well known for good food within the area.

The Barns are 3 miles from the A39 (Atlantic Highway) which gives easy access to the North Devon and Cornwall coastlines, to seaside resorts such as Bude, Widemouth Bay and legendary Tintagel as well as King Arthur's Castle. The picturesque fishing port of Padstow, home to Rick Stein's restaurant is also along this coast.
