Apothiki is a beautifully renovated, completely independent apartment situated on the ground level of Villa Sofia. It has one bedroom, and a living room with sofa bed. The open plan kitchen has beautiful granite counters and includes a bar space for eating inside. There is also a storage room with washing machine, and a spacious modern bathroom. It is tastefully furnished and equipped with all the modern conveniences. The king size bed in the bedroom can be divided into twin beds. The west facing, covered veranda is ideal for alfresco dining. Apothiki is less than 100 meters from the beautiful sandy main beach of Stoupa and sits in in a quiet, private garden. It is built with 50 cm thick stone walls which make it cool in summer and warm in winter. All windows and doors are double glazed. The windows are also equipped with screens. SPECIAL NOTE: For sailors, a sun fish is available for use.

Apothiki is situated in a 1,900 sq. m garden offering one quiet and privacy, yet, it is in the heart of the village and less than 100m from the main beach of Stoupa. Stoupa is a small village built around 3 bays and everything is within walking distance. Just off the beaches, you will find cafes where you can get both cold drinks and a light lunch. Small motor boats, kayaks, and pedaloes can be rented here. There is a 24 hour medical center 2 km away. The city of Kalamata is 45 km distance from Stoupa. Nearby, you can also explore the other coastal and mountain villages.

  • Deposit of 25% required on booking, the remainder to be paid 4 - 6 weeks before start of holiday. The above prices include all utilities. There is an additional charge of 35 euros for end of stay cleaning. Ask us for special rates for long term rental and/or over wintering.
  • For bookings made between now and March 31, 2009, of 2 weeks or more, we will offer a 15% reduction on the total cost. After April 1, we will offer a 10% reduction on any booking over 2 weeks.

Notes: Apothiki is located on the ground level of Villa Sofia. It faces towards the west and opens onto a large garden that has various trees, such as fig, orange, lemon, tangerine, bananas, and mulberry. There is a large covered veranda towards this side of the apartment offering good opportunities for alfresco dining. Towards the south, there is a small patio which is very good for relaxing in the sun. Apothiki was entirely renovated using the highest quality of workmanship and materials. The fully tiled bathroom is very light and spacious. The cusom made plexiglass shower creates a very open feeling. The kitchen area was custom designed and has granite counters and all the amenities. It is tastefully furnished and beautifully decorated.

STOUPA VILLAGE: The three beaches of Stoupa are all within a short walk of Apothiki. Two of the beaches have very fine sand. The third beach, Halikoura, has small pebbles and is ideal for snorkeling. All three are child friendly because of the shallow waters near the shoreline. There are some cafes just off the beaches that offer cold drinks and light meals for lunch. Kayaks and pedaloes can be rented from both Stoupa and Kalogria beach. Small motor boats are also available for rental in Stoupa beach. Because it is a small village, everything is within an easy walk. In addition to the cafes, you will find numerous restaurants, fine gift shops, a rental shop where you can rent anything from fans to bicycles, a supermarket and pharmacy. A fitness gym is just a short walk from the beach. For more adventurous souls, cars, motor scooters, and buggys can also be rented in town.

EXCURSIONS: Stoupa is in the middle of a very beautiful area. Along the coast, there are several other charming villages to visit, (Kardimili, Agios Nikolaos, Agios Dimitrios, and Trachila). Each is unique and well worth a visit. There is a paved path along the coastline between Stoupa and Agios Nikolaos. It is specifically designated for either pedestrian or bicycle use, and is about 2 km in length. It offers wonderful sea and mountain views. In a distance from 4-18 km from Stoupa, there are lovely mountain villages to explore that take you back in time. Most of them have a small taverna or two where you can stop and enjoy dishes prepared with local products. There are two separate loops that can be driven. Each of them passes through several villages and you can take anywhere from one hour to as long as you like to complete your journey. For day trips, you can visit the world famous Caves of Diros, Sparta with Mistras, Ancient Messini, Pylos, Koroni, and Methoni.

Other Activities: The area is rich in wildflowers throughout most of the year, and is also rich in opportunities for sea related activities

The apartment is very well and very tastefully fitted and is ideal for two people or a couple with up to two relatively young children. It really is within 2 minutes of the beach and the village centre. Our stay was greatly enhanced by the kindness and hospitality of the owners, Takis and Tracy. They love the region and are very knowledgeable about it and they willingly share this with guests. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

Memorable time in Stoupa and the surrounding area.

Last April we decided with my husband Dimitri to spent few days in Messiniaki Mani to enjoy the wild flowers in the area. We stayed in Stoupa in a perfect place that had everything that we could have wished for. The first impression when we walked in to Apothiki was something I will never forget. A small vase with wild flowers on the table, a small bottle of ouzo in a beautiful tray with two small glasses, local honey on the kitchen counter... the whole place was sparkling clean, inviting, homey and very tastefully decorated. It had all the amenities we needed, including a washing machine. The owners were very gracious with us and besides their suggestions for our outings in Stoupa and the surrounding area, they let us use their internet and they offered me their personal phone card when I needed to make an overseas phone call. We were very touched when they offered us a box of strawberries that a local farmer just brought to them. We loved the location of the place because it was a minute away from the waterfront and walking distance from everywhere in the village including "Kalogria beach". By car we were minutes away from so many memorable villages with breathtaking views of beds of wild flowers that their colors and smells we will never forget. In Stoupa we had one of our best vacations ever!

Perfect Time in Stoupa

My husband and I found a perfect, private apartment with a lovely outdoor garden area to enjoy our morning coffee in. The owners were extremely gracious and helpful -- even shared their lemons and oranges and olive oil from their gardens. The Apothiki apartment is beautifully decorated with every modern convenience you need for a comfortable stay. Best of all, it is only a block from the beach and all the activity in Stoupa without the problems of the noise of the "party scene." We found this to be good value for a couple, like us, or a couple with a child.
