The flat is situated in the picturesque village of Cellardyke in the East Neuk of Fife, only ten miles from St Andrews, the home of golf. It is a newly renovated and decorated former fisherman's house and particular care has been taken in choosing the furniture and fittings to ensure a high standard of holiday accommodation. It has beautiful sea views of Cellardyke Harbour and May Island in the Firth of Forth. As of 10th June 2010 we have been awarded for the fourth year running VisitScotland 4* self-catering status.
The flat forms the second and third floors of a terraced property overlooking the picturesque harbour of Cellardyke. On the second floor is the newly fitted kitchen/dining room complete with new appliances - hob, oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher. It has plenty of food preparation and storage space and a good range of dishes, glasses, cutlery, utensils etc.
The dining table seats 6 comfortably and you can enjoy a beautiful view of Cellardyke Harbour while sitting here. Feel free to use our binoculars. The comfortable, spacious living room, with double sofa bed and feature fire place, also has a sea view, and has flat screen television, radio/CD player and plenty of books for children and adults, lego, jigsaw puzzles etc. The WC/Utility room located between the living room and the kitchen/dining room houses the washing machine, condenser dryer, freezer and iron. There is also a hairdryer provided.
On the top floor is the double bedroom with double bed and excellent sea views over the rooftops from the Velux window. The twin bedded room also has excellent views over the harbour and both bedrooms have plenty of shelves and hanging space for clothes. The bathroom is located between the bedrooms and has a shower over the bath - you can see May Island from the shower!
There is a travel cot, high chair and stair gates if you have a baby or small child. The flat benefits from a new gas central heating system throughout the property and on the top floor the velux windows are double glazed. There is also an outbuilding convenient for storing golf clubs, bicycles, push chairs etc. Two adult bikes are available to borrow. The garden has a large, newly built decking area with sea views and has comfortable garden furniture and a barbecue to let you make the most of the warm summer evenings.
Our usual Christmas visitors are unable to come this year so the flat is available from Saturday 21 December - Saturday 28 December - please contact me if interested.
The flat is ideally situated for familes, couples or groups of friends who wish to explore the East Neuk of Fife's picturesque villages of Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans, Elie, Crail and St Andrews. It is ideal for golfers of all abilities with many golf courses in and around St Andrews (the home of golf), 2 courses at Crail, Anstruther, Elie, Charleton, Lundin Links and Carnoustie, where the 2007 Open took place, is less than an hour's drive away. The Fife Coastal Path passes through Anstruther to Crail. Anstruther is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum and also renowned for the award winning Anstruther Fish Restaurant.
Crail has an interesting Museum and Heritage Centre and a well-established working pottery. Scotland's Secret Bunker is four miles west of Crail and is where central government and military commanders would have run the country had the UK been attacked and nuclear war broken out.
