Pride of place on our property is taken by La Collinaccia, set atop our highest ridge. The sun rises over the Romagna Appennines to warm the pool and the shaded terrace and sets behind the Appenninnes of Toscana that stretch endlessly from the front of the house. There is not another building to interrupt either view except as distant specks on the far hillsides. The sunsets are spectacular and the special light at the end of the day will never be forgotten.
The high position of the house affords a large variety of walks and ever changing types of scenery. You can relax on the terrace looking out at the endless 360 degrees view.
La Collinaccia, originally a shepherd’s house, is our latest remodelling. All modern comforts were built in during the restoration, including built in closets, ceiling fans and spacious bathrooms. We have used the finest local materials – terracotta flooring, chestnut beams from our own trees and decorative tiles from the famous town of Faenza.
The villa has been discretely separated into two fully contained apartments – each over the full floors of the villa and with totally separate entrances at opposite sides of the villa. They share the swimming pool (open from May 8 to 25 September, (5x10mt; depth 1,20-1,90mt) and grounds, which are arranged to accommodate our guests in easy comfort. The pool is set in a rolling lawn adjoining the house. Car parking is out of sight.
The first floor apartment boasts 4 large bedrooms arranged as one very large double bedroom, and 3 twin bedded rooms (the twin beds can be made into double beds), 4 newly created bathrooms: 1 with a bathtub and shower and 3 with showers. Off the corridor with the bedrooms is a loggia.
The kitchen and dining room is a large family room with a modern kitchen separated from a large dining room, which seats 8, by an arch. The living room has an open feature working fireplace and modern furniture mixed with local touches and art prints.
An additional dining area has been created from a large lobby entrance with the main door leading out to a beautiful view and with it’s own fireplace and can easily seat 16 people. This dining area can be used along with the inside kitchen and dining.
If our guests want to use the fully equipped modern Summer kitchen in this lobby area as well, this will be as an alternative to using the kitchen and dining room inside the apartment. A fully equipped Utility Room is off the lobby hall. All the rooms including the large entrance hall and inside entrance area are decorated with beautiful prints and artifacs to make the house very warm and interesting. All the rooms have stunning views.
