Originally 2 rural houses Cortijo Los Pelaes has been sympathetically rebuilt to the highest of specifications using a blend of old and new Andalusia styles. With 378 sq/m of internal space & 4 private terraces it offers luxury holiday accommodation for 2 families in complete comfort.
The house has been furnished and equipped to the highest of standards and provides a true 'home away from home' experience, a 9m private pool with stunning mountain as the backdrop and a expansive paved pool surround and garden terracing. The cortijo is approached up a short track which sees minimal traffic other then the occasional farmer on his tractor. Olive groves and mountains make up the scenery with the village of Rosario in the distance. Rosario has all the necessary amenities including petrol, bank, supermarkets, butchers, bakers, tapas bars and restaurants.
It you are looking for a peaceful rural getaway in Andalusia - the 'real Spain'- Cortijo Los Pelaes this is the place for you . We also have WIFI if you need to be connected whilst away.
Coast Beach: We are 30 mins north of Malaga and the busy tourist destinations of Costa de Del Sol. Waterparks, beaches, Scuba diving, international boutiques and nightlife abound.
Skiing: Only 1 hours drive and you reach the skiing worlds best kept secret - Sierra Nevada. As Europe's most southerly ski resort with extensive snow making machines you will enjoy sun drenched skiing with views of the Atlas mountains in Africa. The season runs through until early April and ski schools in Sierra Nevada speak English and are very friendly. The owners can recommend suitable establishments.
Outdoor activities: The local countryside affords the traveller great opportunities to discover Spain's wildlife, bird life and fauna. The landscape is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding.
In summer you can climb the second highest mountain in Spain; El Veleta @ 3335m in the Sierra Nevada range.
Flamingos and storks breed in the surrounding lakes. Trout fishing and caviar can be found in nearby Riofrio or you can simply climb the mountains in front of the property or just wander the endless olive groves.
The owners will happily advise.
We are Family of four based near London. We love Spain.....and return as much as we can. Ian was brought up on The Balearic Islands and so has a connection with all things Hispanic speaking the language fluently. Our boys are 12 and 16 and have grown up experiencing holidays in Spain and enjoying the villa as their playground with its pool, pool table, and space to run around safely and securely.
Alyson Bayley purchased this villa in 1998
After traveling extensively both for pleasure and for business we have come up with our dream holiday location with home from home comforts. When traveling with friends, family and extended family we feel its important that everyone is catered for and has the space to relax and enjoy without feeling cramped, and always having to compromise on space, rooms, beds and facilities.
'Home from home' unlike so many rental properties Los Pelaez is equipped to high standard with everything you would find at home. The kitchen boosts a dishwasher , microwave and Siemens double oven. The picturesque location with mountain views are breathtaking and at night you can experience a wonderful clear nights sky to star gaze. A rural property, but yet easily accessible to all that Andalusia has to offer historical cities, food, wines, beaches etc.
Even before we arrived Alyson ensured we were ready, with detailed instructions on how the villa worked and how to get there. Patsy met us at the villa, and showed us round. We thought we had hired a mansion it was so spacious and well decorated. All the rooms had air con, (which we needed): and worked really well. The pool was great and spacious, and kept very clean. The Laundry was great as were the numerous bathrooms. Our 3yr old grandson came with us, and he really enjoyed it, and we felt very safe for him. If we return to this area of Spain we would definitely want to stay here again. We cannot praise Alyson enough, as she helped us with car hire, ( we went with Malagacar and with the 15% discount as Los Pelaez users; we had a trouble free hire period), and her instructions were comprehensive. We would recommend this villa to all our friends and relatives.
We had a fantastic holiday at the villa. Everything we needed was there!
It was about 30 minutes drive from Malaga.
When we arrived there was a welcome basket ready for us. We felt at home immediately. The beds were very nice and in the showers were enough towels. For our daughter (21 months) were enough toys so we did not hear her the whole week. The villa is situated near a small town (quiet) but we liked that very much.
When we arrived it was very windy, but the temperature was fine. Especially the last days we really enjoyed the pool.
We visited Malaga, Cordoba and Granada. Very Nice!
We really recommend the villa to everyone who wants to stay at a nice villa who has it all.
Alyson Just to let you know that we had a very nice time at the villa, esp. enjoyed the fireplace as it was cool outside, and also the great DVD library...... We are movie aficionados so it worked well for us. Rod (ron?) and Patsy were very helpful and we managed to tag onto a neighbour's internet server so were able to maintain our (not so healthy?) contact with the outer world
Thanks for everything you did to manage the booking and facilitate a pleasant stay
Happy New Year!
Everything at Los Paleaz enabled our group to make the most of our vacation in the peaceful Andalucian countryside, away from it all but so close to the historical sights at Granada, Cordoba, Antequera and Malaga. The layout of the house is very spacious and comfortable, and we very much appreciated your efforts to re-allocate the bedding arrangements to suit our needs. All the 8 teenagers were extremely happy with the way they were sorted out in their rooms. The living area is truly conducive for interaction, whilst at the same time never making us feel on top of each other. Having breakfast out on the terrace was a bonus as we could take in the beautiful scenery around us. We took quite some time to identify a house for our vacation, especially as we wanted one which is spacious for 3 families and also not too far from the motorway. Location was excellent being so close to the motorway, but yet clearly feeling that we were in the midst of the countryside.
We found your Guide useful, and took the opportunity to eat at both Villanueva del Rosario (Los Melizos and Hostal El Cerezo) and Villanueva del Trabuco (Venta Talilas). Thanks also for your tip about going to the Mercadona supermarket in Archidona .. more than enough for our mainly breakfast needs as we tended to eat out most often making use of the excellent cuisine away from the coast.
Patsy was very helpful throughout, and we appreciated having an English speaking person we could communicate with. No problems at all, but it is always so much better to have everything clearly explained at the beginning of a holiday.
We didn't use the pool very much (only I swam one afternoon), but coming from Malta, that was not something we were after ! However, the garden layout with the pool and landscaping was pretty and enjoyed by all of us.
I was trying to think of aspects people in the group didn't like, simply to give you some feedback. But I honestly cannot recall any misgivings. Actually, the overall impression was that this was one of the top places we have had family holidays at since we tend to take holidays as 2 or 3 families together.
Well done for the excellent standards maintained at the house. It was truly good value for money, and I sincerely hope to return again in the near future.
I will email my bank account details in the coming days for the return of the security deposit.
A big thank you from all 14 of us who stayed at the house.
We stayed in this gorgeous house in July with two other families. The house was perfectly set up to accommodate us all. A fabulous fully equipped kitchen and great communal areas both in and outside the house. The house has been very lovingly renovated to maintain the feel of rural spain with lots of mod cons.
The mountain views from the villa were amazing and the local town charming. We loved the peacefulness and the fact we felt that despite only being a short drive from the airport we had found somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the ususal Spanish resorts where we could experience real Spanish culture.
Would definitely recommend and most definitely will return!
We are a Norwegian family of seven that spent the Easter in this house, and what a dream of a house! Spacious nice rooms, many of them with stunning view of the landscape. Delicate bathrooms. Best of all, the large well equipped kitchen with a huge table, perfect for our big family. We didn't miss anything there, it was very generously supplied Outside there is a beautiful garden with a pool. The pool is heated by the sun, so the temperature was measured between 14 and 17 degrees during Easter, but the children bathed every day anyway.
The house is very well situated for shorter or longer trips in the area. Antequera is an exciting town just a short distance away, which we visited on several occasions. Granada with Alhambra is also a must.
Easter time in Andalucia is a very special one with the famous processions through the streets of many cities. We watched processions both in Malaga and Antequera.
The local agents that met us when we arrived and departed were nice people, who gave us all the relevant information we needed about the house.
To conclude: We had a wonderful Easter holiday in a wonderful house in a wondeful landscape.
The property is located in a typical white washed Andalusian rural village of Villanueva del Rosario surround by spectacular mountains and endless sweeping olive groves. Fiestas in August culminate in bulls running the streets. The historic town of Antequera is 20 mins away and has many attractions like its Bullring, Tapas bars, weekly market, the newly opened Antequera golf course, Wolf Park and El Torcal National Park. Archidonas 18th centrury Plaza Ochavada and monastry are 15mins. Malaga airport, shops and beaches are 30 mins away. Granada is 80 kms drive with its famous Alhambra palace. Only 1 hours drive and you reach the skiing worlds best kept secret - Sierra Nevada. As Europe's most southerly ski resort with extensive snow making machines you will enjoy sun drenched skiing with views of the Atlas mountains in Africa. In summer you can camp in the Sierra Nevada national park and walk to the peak 'Veleta' 3394m. Rio Frio, famous caviar and trout farms is 20 mins drive away.
Golf: Andalusia as a whole offers some wonderful Golf courses all within driving distance from Cortijo Los Pelaes. Closest is the newly opened Antequera Golf course which is located 25 mins drive and offers spectacular hilltop golfing with stunning rural mountain views and lush greens.
Ski: The Sierra Nevada mountain range and ski resort is the most southerly in Europe and can be reached within 1 hour drive from the Villa. With views of Africa and the Atlas mountains and the highest percentage of sunny days you will enjoy great skiing.
