I wanted to send you a note and let let you know that the Snow family had a terrific time last week at Platte Lake.
You have a beautiful home and it was perfect for what we needed. It was an ideal location for us to get to all the destination spots we were wanting to get to. The deck was a popular place to be all week (when not enjoying kayak trips on the beautiful river. Our boys loved hopping on their bikes for trips to the Trading Post.
All of us left with memories that will be cherished forever. In fact, as we were getting ready to leave, my parents were already talking about 'next year'.
So, if you do make the house available next summer, we may be interested in visiting again.
Thanks again for sharing your lake house with us and please feel free to contact me with any questions and also to confirm when you we should expect deposit funds to be returned.

Walter Miller purchased this house in 1980
I've owned this property since 1980, the property has been in the family since the 50's. I use to vacation here as a child, lots of great memories. In 2001 I decided to demolish and rebuild the lake house. As a license residential Michigan builder, my son and I spent three years designing and buildng a special setting with maximum lake views. The 'peninsula lot setting' with the closeness of the dwelling to the water makes for great lake views. The natural beauty with Southern exposure and love for the area is why this Lake House will be in the Miller family for a long long time.
This area of Michigan is just beautiful. The float trips on Platte river, climbing of sand dunes, hiking on the wilderness trails with all the wildlife. The activies/festivals in surrounding cities, local parades, year round activities at Crystal Mountain, Big lake fishing (coho, salmon), the freshness of the air, the peacefull environment, the beauty of the sun and moon light on the water from the balcony with the wind, sun and clouds creating endless views/beauty.
This home is just as described and is well-represented in the photos. This is the third home we have rented on Big Platte Lake and find it perfect--you can go to several different beaches, kayak Platte Lake out to Platte Point beach, go to the Cherry Bowl drive in, pick blueberries, and have some great family time. One night when we were having a fire, 2 foxes walked right by us. We could have reached out and touched them (we didn't, of course, but they were interested in our smores!). You will need to bring your own bed linens and towels, and also your own pillows if you are picky about that. The neighbors were quite nice; one neighbor is apparently the head of the homeowner's association, and my nephew called him the Mayor of the Lake :). He took some photos of our family for us right before we left. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with equipment and dishes; we brought our own non-stick pan which was helpful. The water was very shallow a long way out. Not great for swimming (would be great if you had toddlers), but we rented a kayak for the week and our younger kids had fun just paddling around safely in the shallow water. I would recommend this property!
We had a wonderful family vacation at this cottage! There was so much to do in the area that our week flew by all too fast. The cottage is beautiful, spacious and accommodated our family which ranged in ages from 10 to 70 years old very well. The Trading Post was awesome and made our stay so much fun, too.
Beautiful and very clean home! We loved our vacation on Big Platte Lake. Home had everything we needed and more. Make sure you check out the nice sandy swimming sand bar area at North end of lake - you can anchor your boat there and swim. If you rent a boat you will need to anchor it farther out than the dock and make sure you have a heavy duty anchor as the wind is sometimes strong. Bring your water shoes or pick some up at Trading Post or Riverside. Trading Post has awesome ice cream and pizza. Cherry Hut has delicious food and loved their Cherry Ade (like lemonaide, but better). Cherry Bowl Drive-In was soooo much fun - afordable and great quality movie! Hungry Tummy in Beulah has a great fisherman's platter on Fri. night. Tubing/Kayak/Canoeing down Platte River (use Riverside or Trading Post) is a MUST! If you want to watch the sunset on Lake Michigan (get there a little early 9pm as the parking area is small) - go down Deadstream to Peterson Rd - drive approx. 10 min - bring a blanket and relax and watch the sunset - AMAZING!! Sleeping Bear Dunes Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is also a must. We really loved this home - the deck with plenty of seating, the firepit, the large kitchen, the large bedrooms and comfortable beds, the clean and modern bathrooms - We loved it all!
We had a fabulous week at the Platte Lake house, great location, great house - the pictures truly do not do it justice. There were 10 adults, 2 teens and a 2 year old and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themseslves. We swam & fished & played lawn games & hiked & kayaked and visited nearby cities. There is so much to do, and when not running around, the decks are perfect, 2 picnic tables & lots of room for all of us. It was great having the Trading Post store so close. The house is well built and well maintained - plenty of space and a great kitchen, I would absolutely recommend it - a great place to spend a vacation!
