This thatched cottage was built in the 1800s and tastefully restored in 1976 with the original architecture being totally preserved. Situated on 4,400m2 of turfed and planted ground in the Tarun Valley with its charming trout river winding through the countryside. Peace, quiet and tranquility are guaranteed! The house interior respects the Breton houses traditional furniture, large chimney with exposed stones, original beams, solid wood Monastere table seating 10 persons, millar stairs, terre aute floor. The ground floor measures 70m2 and includes a large lounge, kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs there is 3 bedrooms and a large bathroom. Outside to the front of the house is the heated swimming pool with pleasant panoramic views. To the rear of the house there is ample parking room.

The small town of Plumelin is 1.5km from the cottage. With its two restaurants, four bars, grocery/bakery/cake shop, butchery, doctor and dentist surgery and tennis courts. The towns of Locmine and Baud are within 7km. Both towns have a number of large supermarkets, restaurants, banks and traditional French shops. Within easy reach are the attractive towns of Josselin and Pontivy, both having splendid medieval castles. In Breton, Morbihan means 'Little sea'. The gulf of Morbihan begins in Conleau at the gateway to Vannes. It stretches over 132km2 and is dotted with countless islands. To go around the gulf by boat is a delight. The coast has a thousand faces: The beaches of Quiberon, Erdeven, St.Philibert and Locmariaquer are ideal for a day at the seaside. Carnac with its incomparable sand and mysterious ancient megaliths. La Trinite Sur Mere, the sailors mecca. The major city of Vannes is within 30km and is a delightful place to visit.

Leisure activities: The magnificent Blavet valley is a 10km drive and is situated in the heart of the Morbihan countryside. The banks of the Nantes Brest canal are ideal places for a pleasant walk in the countryside. A number of leisure activities, including horse riding, fishing, canoeing and golf can be found in the Blavet region. A short drive brings you to the beautiful Camor forest. With its famous adventure park its a great day out for adventurous children and adults alike. A 100 metre walk from the cottage brings you to the river Tarun, famous for its trout fishing.

Heated private swimming pool: The rectangular pool measures 11.5m x 5m x 1.4m. Roman steps lead into the heated water (26c). The pool is fenced and complies with the current safety regulations. Two spotlights form a dome that lights the pool in the evenings. The pool patio is furnished with 4 bench chairs and 3 loungers.

Great peaceful place to stay!

We stayed in this cottage in mid August 08. We had a great time! The house is very big and has ample space in the living areas and the bedrooms. The kids loved the swimming pool!
The owner was never far away if there were any problems (which there weren't) and was very helpful in telling us were local shops etc were.
I would recommend this cottage to anyone who fancies a quiet week away from it all. The cottage is situated in a peaceful countryside but is close to a village (5-10 mins drive) where you can get all the essentials.

The house was booked for a relaxing family holiday - myself, husband, 2 children (ages 8 & 5) and my parents. We all agreed the house was in a wonderful rural location with great views of the countryside and met the description given. The beds were made up on arrival, house, garden and pool were clean and well maintained. The owner was pleasant and welcoming. We enjoyed the pool, cycling and a bit of fishing in the river nearby. The house is ideally situated for a peaceful 'away from it all' holiday yet within easy access to nearby attractions and towns for activities, boat trips and sightseeing etc.
