2 bedroom apartment, separate bathroom/WC, sleeps 5, very near village centre

The property, completed in Dec 2006, and fitted with brand-new, high quality furniture throughout, makes an excellent base for your skiing or activity holiday.

The Living Room/Diner has seating for 6 at the table and 4/5 in comfort on the sofas. The kitchen has a range of units including a 4 ring ceramic hob, self-cleaning fan oven, dishwasher, fridge (4 * freezer compartment), and microwave. An HD TV with TNT (french freeview), DVD player, and a CD stereo with iPod dock and input for MP3 player, are also here.

The main bedroom has a double bed, with large chest of drawers and a fitted wardrobe. The second bedroom has adult-sized bunk beds, suitable for all ages, with a further full-size, pull-out single bed; also a large chest of drawers and a walk-in wardrobe.

The bathroom has a bath with shower over, sink and a washer dryer. There is a separate WC and large fitted wardrobes in the hallway. In the living room cupboard are a few rainy day games and toys, plus notes on how to use the various appliances, info on the local area and tourist attractions, plus maps for walking.

Terrace: The apartment features a paved terrace and green area. Deckchairs for sun-lounging are stored outside for use when the weather is bright. There is also an outdoor dining set for 4 people.

Driving in Snow: Don't forget your snow-chains, these are compulsory items to carry in your car for some of the roads in this area during winter. Our access road is cleared by snow plough when required, but you may need the chains in-between visits if the snow is heavy. If you have 4 wheel drive you're unlikely to have any problems.

Lovely apartment in an ideal location

We are just back from a great few days skiing in La Clusaz and Gran Bornand. The apartment is an ideal location with just a short 5 minute walk to the ski bus that takes you to either resort in less than 10 minutes. Also located 5 minutes from Contat Sport where we hired all our gear.

The apartment itself was clean and tidy and plenty of room for the three of us with all the amenities we could have needed. The booster on the bathroom rail was ideally for drying gloves at the end of the day.

Ian and Claire were great hosts, really efficient and quick in coming back to us with information both before our trip and when we were there. Claire sent plenty of useful information ahead of our arrival which made for a very smooth and hassle free arrival, so we could get straight on the slopes.

We shall be back again soon I hope.

P.S the pizza shop is a amazing, do check it out!

Perfect holiday

Not long back from a wonderful week in Saint Jean de sixt. The apartment is exactly as described on the website: light, bright, spacious, clean, comfortable and extremely well-equipped. The booking process was very efficient and Claire was always available to supply information or answer any queries we might have. We only had one small question while we were away it was very promptly answered. We were particularly impressed with the large range of detailed maps and walking guides which were available for guests' use. There were lovely smells emanating from the takeaway pizza place but we did not try it as one of us does not eat cheese. We did enjoy a lovely meal at `Le Cabanon' on our last night. We loved the area and will hopefully be back as there is so much more to do than we could fit into a week.

Excellent apartment

Fantastic apartment, warm, clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a family ski holiday. Location was excellent, quiet, yet only a few minutes walk from village centre and amenities. Excellent pizza take-out nearby! Easy walk to ski bus stop, with regular ski buses serving both La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand/Chinaillon for a great choice of skiing. Internet access was a nice extra! Ian and Claire were most helpful throughout the booking process, always quick to answer any queries and providing lots of useful information. Overall a lovely apartment, we would thoroughly recommend and will be going back.

Great Apartment for getaway in the alps

A perfect apartment close to the centre of the village. We loved the flexibility of choosing between ski areas with the bus stops round the corner there was no endless walking around in ski boots. The apartment is very well equipped and we didn't need anything during our stay and having the wi fi was a real bonus to keep in touch with family back home. Every shop/restaurant/bar/takeaway pizza that you could need was just a short walk away and the highlight of waking up was being able to go to the boulangerie round the corner for our fresh breakfast!

Fantastic Family Holiday!

We've just come back from a fabulous holiday with our two very young children (3 & 5) in St Jean-de-sixt. Ian and Claire (the owners) could not have been more helpful with info and advice on what to do e.t.c The apartment was clean, easily accommodating the 4 of us and the perfect base to have in the heart of the mountains. It had everything we needed, including some lovely toys and games for the kids. We did something different every day; taking the bubble up to do the Summer toboggan in La Clusaz, picnics by streams, forest adventures and swimming in the gorgeous Lake Annecy to name a few. St Jean-de-Sixt had everything we needed; good accessible (by foot) shops, lovely restaurants which were very welcoming to the kids and a great, relaxed atmosphere. We came back revived and rested and would definitely have another holiday there again!

Lovely well equipped property and great value

I don't normally write reviews for holiday properties but this one merits it. The owners were friendly and helpful throughout the booking process and made every effort to accommodate our needs. The apartment was nicely furnished and very clean. The living room was bright and airy with a well equipped kitchen and everything was in good condition too.

St Jean de Sixt is a great location for exploring this beautiful area and there are many lovely walks and bike rides to do right from the apartment door.

Overall a great base at any time of year at a very good price. We will definitely return.

St Jean-de-Sixt is a very pretty village, flanked by dramatic mountains and breath-taking scenery. Within easy reach of Geneva airport, only 30km from Annecy and 5 mins drive from the major resorts of La Clusaz and Grand Bornand; St Jean makes for an excellent and varied holiday destination and base.

The village itself is well-served by shops and amenities, including bakeries, several restaurants and bars, sports shops for ski hire and sale, newsagent, hairdresser, pizza parlour and mini-supermarket. There are also tennis courts, a children's playground, petrol station and a tourist office. Various activities within and around the village include excellent summer walking plus snow shoe trails in winter, a range of cross-country skiing tracks and a sled piste and nursery slope. The ski bus, or your car, will take you across to Grand Bornand or up to La Clusaz where extensive ski slopes from beginner to expert are situated. In Winter there is a bus from Geneva airport to the village. There are also local taxi transfer firms, that we can provide advice on and help arrange.

Ski: Excellent skiing is available in Grand Bornand and La Clusaz with a range of runs from Green to Black. Off-piste skiing is also a possibility, but please use a guide for your own safety. You can drive to the base of the lifts in many cases, or perhaps more conveniently, use the ski-bus, which is free with your carte d'hote. They run very regularly through the season.

We can provide help with ski lessons and also arrange ski passes in advance of your stay and with a discount. These will be delivered on the first day of your holiday.

We recommend Contact Sports for your ski hire; the shop is very close to the apartment. You can get a 10% discount during school holidays, or 20% outside of these dates, with fliers available in the apartment. Have fun!

Notes:
Linen can be supplied through us at a flat rate of €35 including sheets, pillowcases and towels for all beds. Each room has a thermostatically controlled electric heater which can be adjusted to regulate the heat in the room. Additional equipment includes: a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, bag less vacuum cleaner, mop/bucket, dustpan/brush. The kitchen is fully equipped. In addition to ample crockery and cutlery, there is a blender, hand-held mixer, pressure cooker, filter coffee machine, oven trays and dishes, cake tins. In the living room there are a good selection of maps and books on the local area, including recommended walks and hikes for families with children as well as for more experienced adults. There is also a set of brochures and leaflets on the village and its neighbouring resorts and their facilities. A travel-style cot bed is also available for use and stored in the wardrobe. There is also a separate and secure ski locker located in the basement
