Port Isaac Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom house to sleep 4/5 just yards from the harbour

Lundy Cottage lies in the heart of the historic fishing village of Port Isaac. It is full of old world charm, with slate floors, beams and a log fire. Only 30 paces from the sea at high tide, you can lie in bed and listen to the waves and the fishermen bringing in the daily catch.

Lundy Cottage sleeps five people in two double and one single bedroom. Downstairs it has an open plan lounge/dining room with CD player, lots of books, children's toys and board games. Lundy Cottage has a fully equipped galley kitchen. It has one bathroom with a bath and power shower. Port Isaac has two pubs, several excellent restaurants and two teashops. There is a small supermarket, a bakery a deli, and a fishmongers so all your culinary needs are catered for.

Children can enjoy exploring the rock pools and caves on the beach. There is the local inshore lifeboat to visit, as well as a small aquarium with the largest lobster in the world! The stunning beaches of Polzeath for surfing, and Daymer Bay which is great for families are close by. Surfing lessons can be arranged at Polzeath, and the Extreme Academy at Watergate bay will keep teenagers (and the not so young!) busy.

About Anita Wood

We bought Lundy Cottage back in 2002, we visited Port Issac regularly and wanted a bolthole near the sea. When we saw Lundy Cottage for sale we made an offer which was accepted and set about renovating it at the weekends!

Anita Wood purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Anita Wood chose Port Isaac

We really wanted to be close to the sea and loved the fact that you can see the harbour from Lundy Cottage and hear the seagulls and the waves.

What makes this cottage unique

Many villages in Cornwall have been altered by tourism, but Port Isaac retains its charm and unspoilt character. We believe that the cliff walks from the cogttage are some of the best in the UK, and the harbour, just a couple of minutes away is picture perfect!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for a lovely short break at Lundy Cottage. My husband took me away for a surprise weekend, the walking along the cliffs was stunning, and Port Isaac has some fantastic restaurants - The seafood restaurant provided us with a very memorable meal - we can't reccommend it highly enough. Lundy Cottage made us feel we had taken a walk back in time, but is really well equipped and furnished. We loved having the bakery next door so we could pop over each morning for croissants and fresh bacon!

Cozy cottage in a great location

  • 4 of 5
Lundy cottage is a simple but cozy house. It was everything we expected from the description and photos and the location was fabulous, especially if you are a Doc Martin fan. We have seen this house in several scenes!
We had a little problem with our keys on arrival, and we had so much help from the local people we felt warmly welcome. The owners were also great as soon as they found out about the problem.
This is a house we would return to, in a location we absolutely loved. Don't miss the footpath to the parking lot, even if you don't have a car, the views are amazing.

Great place for a small family

  • 4 of 5
Just finished a lovely week in Lundy Cottage. The house was clean and well-equipped and had everything we needed. There are beautiful (but strenuous) walks along the coast. The pub across the street is great for a few pints at the end of the day, but can be load at night. They close up at 11 though and all is very quiet afterwards. There are plenty of seafood restaurants in easy walking distance and places to buy fresh fish too. There is a great walking tour of the village led by John who has lived his whole life in Port Isaac. Thanks for making this most enjoyable week possible

Home from home

  • 5 of 5
I have had the pleasure of staying in Lundy Cottage several times over many years. Its location is hard to surpass and it's remarkably practical for any number up to 5; just about everything you need is there. Many others will have said all this, but the one comment I can add, however, is that having stayed several times over the years it's great to see how Andy and Anita have imbued it with such a homely feel; it's evident in the soft furnishings, but also in particular pieces that I recognise from their homes in London before they moved down to Devon! It was always intended as their home from home and it very much has that character.

A get away from it all break

  • 5 of 5
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at Lundy Cottage. We have have come back completely refreshed after a wonderful holiday. Lundy Cottage has everything we could have wished for, even a guitar in the cupboard which was a lovely surprise. The bedlinen was lovely - so nice to arrive and not have to make the beds up and we really like the way you include cleaning in the price . . . makes for a much more restful holiday.

Lundy Cottage is full of light and my daughter loved sitting on the window seat reading her book each morning - it felt a little as if we had stepped back in time. We loved taking our breakfast down to sit at the harbour each morning and the children also really enjoyed going surfing at Polzeath.

We discovered that most cottages in Port Isaac don't have parking and the car park was a beautiful walk - one morning we even saw a basking shark. There is so much to do in the village and the cliff walks in both directions are stunning - particularly towards Port Quinn.

We will be back!

Characteristic cottage in a beautiful village

  • 4 of 5
Our stay at Lundy Cottage was a wonderful holiday. The cottage is small but has is well decorated which gives you the feeling of 'home'.
Tall people must mind their heads, because the ceiling in the bathroom is very low, we bumped our head many times, but still that didn't ruin our holidayfun. The village Port Isaac is very beautiful, like your in a movie or something.
The property was very clean and provided all the neccecairy goods in the cottage and the communication between the owner and us went very well.
The informationbook provided in the cottage about the surrounding is a little bit outdated, but you can always go to the nearest tourist information shop.
The parking was a little bit of a problem in the beginning for we hadn't enough coins to put in te parking machine. It is 27 pounds for a week and you have to walk about 3/4 of a mile to the cottage. That wasn't a problem for us because when you walk from the parking to the cottage you see a great scenary of the Atlantic Ocean!
We would certainly recommend this property to a relative or a friend.
It's a pity we don't get to see the beautiful port every morning, but luckily we still have our pictures!

Owner's Response: Thank you Astrid and family,

We really enjoy welcoming guests from outside the UK and we're glad that you had a wonderful holiday at Lundy cottage! We agree that Port Isaac is a special place to spend a family holiday.

Our apologies about the parking charges having gone up, in the recent economic climate the charges went up suddenly without our realising. We have let all of our future guests for this summer know about the parking price change. We are also in the process of sorting the the handbook to ensure that the information about all of the attractions is completely up to date. Thanks for your feedback, we always welcome visitor comments.

We hope to welcome you and your family back to Lundy Cottage very soon Astrid. Thank you for recommending us to your friends and family. We look forward to hopefully welcoming some of them too.

Best wishes,

Anita and Andy Wood

Thanks for a great holiday!

  • 4 of 5
We really enjoyed staying at Lundy Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and right in the heart of Port Isaac. We enjoyed walking the cliff path in both directions - to Port Quinn - amazing scenery and rather a lot of steps!! and towards Tintagel in the other direction (we didn't make it quite as far as Tintagel)

We enjoyed watching the sun set on Friday night as the "Fisherman's friends" sang sea shanties at the harbour (think this is a weekly event in the summer and not to be missed!)

The children enjoyed the nearby beaches, surfing at Polzeath and the beach at Daymer bay. All in all a great holiday in a very quaint little cottage and the sun even shone for us!
