Photos and Description of the Charente vacation house rental

Petite Barrerie was discovered and converted in 1995. Many of the visitors have returned time and again because of the peace , tranquility, and the abundance of birds and wildlife. It is situated in grounds of 1.5 acres which in turn look out over the beautiful open countryside of the Southern Charente.

Nearest Airport: Bergerac at 45 Miles
Many small restaurants can be found in the surrounding villages and towns. Petite Barrerie is surrounded by vineyards where the local wine and pineau can be bought direct plus the vineyards of Cognac are only 40 mins away to the west. Activities such as golf, canoeing, and pony trekking are all within 15 mins. The area is on the circuit of old Romanesque churches and ruins with many notable and famous ones, such as the largest monolithic church in Europe at Aubeterre which is only 4 miles away.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Changeovers are on a saturday, the house being available from 1600.

    The house, grounds and pool are maintained by the English owners, Ian & Jan, who live 7kms away at St Aulaye. We are constantly contactable via the house phone if any problems should occur.

    For lets longer than two weeks we shall arrange a suitable time to visit and clean through and change linen if required.

Petite Barrerie is wheelchair friendly and is all on one level including the pool and terrace. Petite Barrerie has a large lounge, kitchen diner, which seats ten, four bedrooms three of which are ensuite,and a family bathroom. The lounge looks out on the covered terrace which in turn fronts the private 12 x 6 metre private pool. The pool is fenced to meet the new french regulations. There is a covered bbq area close to the terrace and pool.
