Haus Wussler, the modern guesthouse, which was built in 1992 as well as the typical Black Forest farmhouse 'Valley View' of our traditional Black Forest Farm, are located on a sunny plateau, surrounded by meadows and forests, with a splendid panoramic view of the Kinzig Valley / Black Forest.

Relax in the comfortable holiday apartments ('4 Stars DTV' 2009) with balcony or terrace of 1992 or in the historic farmhouse 'Valley View' of 1839, which was renovated and modernized in 2010.

Enjoy the garden areas with a barbecue site and the large sun-terrace providing all facilities for a relaxing vacation in an idyllic location.

'Haus Wussler' is family and children-friendly. Seniors, singles and couples will feel comfortable and will spend a pleasant vacation at our farm.

The children love the farm-animals and the playground with swings, slide, a playhouse and sandbox as well as the large meadows with soccer goals, badminton and table-tennis.

The adults like the quiet location and beautiful nature and also our home-made products, e.g. an original Black Forest 'Kirschwasser' or 'Obstler' schnaps from our distillery.

Enjoy nice walks (also with your dog), hiking, Nordic walking, mountain-biking etc. in the forests next to our property and in very beautiful surroundings.

Dogs are welcome, after prior information.

Smoking allowed outside and on balconies/terraces.

Gengenbach (3 km) is a picturesque medieval city with a historic town-centre, idyllic narrow streets, half-timbered houses, museums, facilities for wellness, sports and recreation, spas, swimming-pools, shops and supermarkets, pubs, inns, restaurants, wine-taverns and cafés.

Enjoy nature, cultural events, sightseeing, excursions, traditional German celebrations and festivals, Christmas markets, the famous 'Largest Advent Calender of the World' with an advent market in Gengenbach, the excellent cuisine and delicious wines in the beautiful Black Forest!

In the apartment 'Swallow's Nest' on the first floor, classification '4 Stars DTV 2009' (German Tourist Association), there is a combined living-room/kitchen (a completely furnished kitchen with 4-ring-stove, oven, extractor hood, fridge/freezer, coffee-machine, toaster, electric kettle, radio etc.), microwave on request, a dining place, arm-chair and sofa (sofa bed = 3rd place to sleep), satellite-TV, stereo unit with CD-player, cassette tape recorder and radio, high-speed Internet access via WLAN (WIFI) / router, a separate bedroom with a double bed and shower/WC. This apartment is located only a few steps away from the large sun-terrace of the guesthouse with a splendid panoramic view. Part of that terrace is separated and reserved for the apartment 'Swallow's Nest'.

Haus Wussler sits high above the Kinzig valley overlooking the historic old town of Gengenbach on the eastern side of the Black Forest.

We’d not visited the area before and having booked online, were taking a bit of a risk with both the location and accommodation. However, our concerns were unfounded as Haus Wussler exceeded our expectations in every respect. The apartments were well furnished and clean with beautiful views over the surrounding valley and forested hills. The owners could not do enough to help by pointing out local events and areas of interest, as well as local restaurants and shops. Haus Wussler is a working farm and children are encouraged to help at feeding time. For adults, there is an opportunity to sample and purchase the Schnapps produced on the farm.

Gengenbach provides a great base for exploring the Black Forest and the Alsace, just across the Rhine in France. However, a car is essential unless you want to spend your time walking or cycling around the local area. Places as far away as the Titisee and Freiburg are easy enough to visit in a day.

We have no hesitation in recommending Haus Wussler for either a quiet relaxing holiday or as a base to explore the area. The owners are the ideal hosts and we are grateful to them for that. We’ll be back!

Well presented clean and spacious. Ideal for the three of us, the Sofa Bed was of a very good quality and comfortable. Stunning Views, walks very close by. You must visit Gengenbach very picturesque, there are many other interesting places to visit. Barbara can give you lots of useful help and information on these, she was extremely helpful and you couldn't ask for a better host. Nothing was too much trouble for her and her Husband. It comes highly recommended by us.

This apartment is lovely and very suited for family of four, everything you would need is available. Lovely and clean and well maintained. Very friendly and helpful owners. set in nice location close to Gengenbach. Lovely gardens and animals for children to feed in morning.
We visited in feb half term which although nice was off season despite paying high season price and most things were closed. There is not a lot of visitor information around the area in english and so be prepared with german dictionary. House owner very helpful in this situation.
Would be lovely to visit in summer lots on cycle paths along river and through lovely towns.

Family holiday in the Balck Forrest

This was our first trip to the region as part of two week stay in Germany, with the first week in the North. Photographs do not do the house or surroundings justic, beautiful mountains and forrest on the door step.

Gengebach is only a short drive away, car is required, however easy cycle ride into the town. The walk up into the hills behind the house is lovely, very steep in places, but worth it, about 1.5k up then 4.5k through the hills to Gengenbach. Not sure I would recommend Gengenbach to those in a wheelchair, most shops (due to their history) had steps going in, we saw people in wheelchairs having to stay outside a lot of them, although they may have ramps, we might be wrong, please check first.

Lots of family things to do if you like the outdoors, superb outdoor (incl. heated) pools in the town, playgrounds, historical buildings, shops etc.

Barbara our host provided us with a booklet of attractions which was really useful and spent most days out using the book.

Daughter is only young and loved the animals and the play area.

Lovely sun terrace, perfect for meals and relaxing.

Excellent customer service, not interefering but alway on hand to assist, offer advice. Very prompt whenever we asked for anything.

Appartment was very clean and tidy and in a very good state of repair. Apparently TV system is being upgraded for a system with lots of different language channels, but to be honest didn't need it. DVD player would have been useful for young children / teenagers if the weather turned fould.

We would not hesitate in going back to stay here, planning to drive next time and take our bicycles. If you like cycling, this is a great family or relaxing place to go. Easy valley cycling, or mountain biking right outside the door.

Very accomodating hosts if you need to arrive/depart at unusual hours! Bring mosquito spray if you are going in the hot weather, like most mountain/wooded areas.

We flew back from Frankfurt, which was only a relaxing 2.5 hour drive.

The owners of Haus Wussler try their utmost best to make you feel at home and make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. The appartements are clean, complete and very cozy!
