Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

A cozy Vermont mountain cottage one mile to picturesque Belmont Village and Star Lake, and 6 miles to Okemo Ski Resort and Ludlow. A private location with a deck overlooking Star Lake, meadows and mountain vistas (with a 75 mile view!).

Sleeps 2 to 6...... 2 for a romantic get-away, or up to 6 for family and friends:

2 bedrooms [Queen; Double; and Queen Sleep Sofa in living room], 2 baths, living room with woodstove, High Speed Internet, satellite TV, DVD, CD player; dining area; fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, microwave; laundry with washer/dryer. A beautiful mountain get-away, yet close to skiing and other activities.

We are in the heart of the Green Mountains between Killington and Stratton/Bromley. We have beautiful (spectacular!!) views off to the west and northwest (great sunsets). Our cottage sits on a hill surrounded by stately maples and open pastures. Although private, our cottage is in the heart of the Vermont ski and tourist area so there are lots of restaurants, shops, and activities within 5 to 10 miles

Winter:

Okemo 6 miles; Killington 30 minutes; snowshoe, cross-country ski and sled from house; village skating; 1/2 mile to VAST snowmobile trail system.

Summer & Fall: Peaceful hide-away; nearby mountain lakes - swim, fish, boat rentals. Central to sightseeing, golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, biking; near historic Weston Playhouse and Weston Priory. Surrounded by Vermont forests and autumn foliage.

No Smoking.

Dogs are permitted by request.

About Ron Unterman

My wife and I are retired and live full time in Belmont, just down the road from our rental cottage.

Come visit us in our little corner of paradise :)

Why Ron Unterman chose Belmont

Ron's family began coming to Belmont for summers in 1956 and his parents moved here full-time from New York City in 1970. As a teenager Ron worked on a local farm and the family came up to Belmont for every vacation, all year 'round. Ron and Dottie moved here full-time in 2001 and enjoy all of Vermont's seasons -- You will too :)

What makes this cottage unique

We are in the heart of the Green Mountains between Killington and Stratton/Bromley, and minutes to Okemo. We have beautiful (spectacular!!) views off to the west and northwest (great sunsets). Our cottage sits on a hill surrounded by stately maples and open pastures. It sits at 2100 feet above sea level and overlooks a lake with a 75 mile view across the mountains of Vermont and into New York State (we see the highest mountain in NY). We are one mile from Star Lake which has a beach and boat access. The cottage is very private being surrounded by 180 acres of our land, and hundreds more acres of friends, family and the State of Vermont. We have our own trail network for hiking, snowshoeing and xc skiing, and there's lots of other hiking all around the town and local area. On our land across the road from the cottage there are four beaver ponds that string along a brook that runs into Star Lake.

Although private, this house is in the heart of the Vermont ski and tourist area so there are lots of restaurants, shops, and activities within 5 to 10 miles (Mt. Holly, Ludlow, Weston, etc.)

Great Place to Stay

We had a great time, in a great place. The cottage was clean and set up nicely for our stay, the wood stove kept us warm & cozy! It snowed 6 inches the night we arrived and by 8:30 am, the driveway had been blown clear by a man with a snow machine capable of clearing an airfield! The views to NY were fabulous as well as the corresponding sunsets! We will certainly be booking a few more stays here! Ron was great and very accommodating to our group, not to mention his attention to detail in the booking process!
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to host Eric and his family. They were great guests and it's always wonderful to hear how our guests appreciate our little corner of paradise in Belmont :)

[email after returning home]Dear Ron and Dottie,Well, we're finally making the difficult transition 'back to the land called work' after our awesome visit to your 'bit of heaven on earth'. Indeed our stay at your heavenly haven refreshed both our spirits and bodies, and put Vermont on the "must see again & again" list of places to visit. What a perfect way for us to have celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Hey, we may not have spotted your neighborhood moose, but he was tracking us!! What excitement we got from spotting his fresh tracks on our way back from clumping down to see one of the beaver dams on your property!! :) What can I say, our stay in your 'little' cottage changed our lives.... Hey, I'm getting ready to put kindling in our 'never used before' fireplace, just to bring back some Belmont ambience to our San Diego nest!! (That fire-stoking bit is an AMAZING new activity for this San Diego native to start doing, trust me on this one!! :)I hope this note finds you and Dottie well.......
