Near Fethiye, nestling in a bay beneath the Taurus mountains, Kalkan was originally a small fishing village. Often referred to as the best kept secret in Turkey, its pretty cobbled streets lined with old bougainvillea covered buildings, boutique shops, small bars and restaurants, wind down to the towards the picturesque harbour - the heart of the old village.
Kalkan has an attractive pebble beach, but is better known for its sophisticated beach clubs with secluded bathing, water sports and terrace restaurants reached by free water taxis from the harbour. The nearby beaches of Patara and Kaputas are easily accessible. Kalkan is renowned for the quality and variety of its still reasonably priced roof-top restaurants, all with spectacular views over the bay, where there is something for every taste and budget with quality wines to match! One final thing to recommend Kalkan for a really relaxing holiday is the friendliness of the local people where nothing is ever too much trouble
