What our guest have said: Here is what some of our guests had to say: Ann Minto: 'The house was wonderful, had everything we needed for a brilliant holiday and thank you for all the details in it. It was a very special place and couldn't have been improved on. A definition of paradise has to be sitting on the terrace in the evening. Local people were so friendly and I can imagine living here must be something special.' Jim Devine: 'We were delighted with the house, which is situated in the Roquette, one of the most charming old neighborhoods, within five minutes walk of the town centre. It is a very comfortable and well-equipped house, with its own roof garden. As a base to explore Arles and to take in the many cultural and historical attractions, it could not be better.' Janet Ouellette: 'Just a note to let you know that we have returned from a wonderful trip to France. We especially enjoyed our days at your beautiful house in Arles. The town is wonderful and we used it as base to explore Provence '

Arles, Provence, France

We spent a very comfortable week in this clean, attractive house which provided more than adequately for our every possible wish. This charming house was just right for our first visit to the South of France.
During our time of booking and at all times following,Robert mine Host, proved to be a wonderful help in providing all possible information, answering queries and being absolutely obliging in all matters related to our stay in Arles.
We made great use of the house from playing table tennis in the cellar, keeping in contact with the family via the free internet and having all our meals on the cosy ,delightful little terrace.
Never have we stayed anywhere where there was provided every possible item one could wish for to make ones stay enjoyable.
Although we did not have a car we found the bus system adequate to visit some neighbouring areas and caused amusement for the locals when travelling on the bus with beach umbrella and beachchairs tucked under our arms(thanks to "the house')The array of books to read almost made one wish for a week of rain!
Thank you Robert for a happy place to wind up our 7weeks of travelling.we found all ammenities easy to use and the problem experienced with the DVD was a minor hiccup which was promplty and obligingly fiixed by the owner.
We particularly appreciated the supply of French hot chocolate (unheard of in Aust!) and other kitchen condements.
If Robert & family ever tear themselves away from the northern climes then we will be happy to return their hospitality in kind.
Brian and Carol

We had a wonderful stay in Arles. The location of the house was great, nothing was too far away to walk to and the city itself is fantastic and if you have a car it's a great spot to get in and out of to discover the surrounding areas. The roof terrace was a wonderful place to enjoy an appertif before trying one of the many fab restaurants in Arles. Thanks again.

A Wonderful Place to Stay!

ClydeB Cottesloe, 6011 Western Australia
Review Submitted: July 23, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
My family assembled from three continents to help us celebrate our Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary in Provence. Partly on the basis of information received, we chose to be in Arles and to try very hard to get this lovely property. It proved to be a wonderful joy to us all!

It is an attractive three story townhouse close to the Rhone, to restaurants, to major iconic sights, to a huge variety of shops, not far from the Station and on the bus and shuttle bus route. It has the Saturday morning markets just outside. The whole environment was quiet, well-served and inhabited by the kindest and most helpful people!

The accommodation had enough sleeping space for seven, and a balcony for barbecues, and a cellar as a games room. We were in constant touch the the rest of the world through the TV and internet facilities freely available.

Every amenity a family would have needed for recreation, meals and all the comforts of home, were there. If we ever needed anything, help was only a phone call away.

For example, it was arranged, through the owner, for us to have a tour expert call upon us and he told us of magnificent opportunities nearby, including the Viaduct at Millau which is/will be the eighth wonder of the world! The hospitality, consideration and generosity of spirit by the owners of this property and the enormous suitability of the property itself, have made our visit a major event in the lives of the whole family.

So appreciative are we of all this that if the owners ever visit Australia, we will want to show them equal joy, if that is possible, so that their lives can perhaps be as enriched as our lives have been!

We invite any reader who would wish to contact us get our email address from the owner and we will be pleased to answer your questions.

For a provincial home in Provence, the chance to enjoy the majesty of this whole part of France, and the safety/warmth/consideration and friendliness for which the Arlesiens are known, our whole family whole-heartedly commend this house!
Owner's Response: One of the things that ClydeB mentions here is the friendliness and warmth of the Arlesiens. Arles is an absolutely fascinating town with a very rich culture and the Arlesiens are very proud of this. They are always more than happy to share it with visitors. I would very much encourage you to talk to talk to them at every opportunity - you won't regret it!

Ideal Base Camp

Nundrum Baltimore, MD, USA
Review Submitted: June 26, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This house was perfect for our first visit to Provence. It dates all the way back to Roman times (tell THAT to your friends when you come back home) but was solidly built and completely up to date in all amenities. It is on a tree-lined boulevard. The walk to key places in Arles is between 10 minutes (Place du Forum) and 20 minutes (Les Arenes), all through charming cobbled alleyways. The rooftop terrace was perfect. We practically lived on it. The owner was very responsive to all questions we had, and made sure we had a great stay. He provides much detailed information on the property. Two caveats: do not stay at this property if you a) have a problem with stairs, or b) require silence to sleep, since it is very near a highway which you can hear at night.
The upside to this highway location is that it is VERY easy to take advantage of Arles central Provence location from this house. We were able to see St. Remy, Les Beaux, Tarascon, Avignon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Aix en Provence, and Cassis, all in only three days. Most drives were less than a half hour, and the longest (and well worth making) was Cassis at an hour and a half.
Incidentally, I would not recommend expecting to be able to use the laundry machines in the house. They are small and very complicated to use. If you need laundry services, the nearby laundromat is your better option.
The kitchen was well stocked and very workable. The number of bathrooms was very helpful (there were four people in our party.) It wa the kind of house that did not take long to begin to feel like home. Overall, we could not have hoped for anything more.
Owner's Response: As mentioned in this review the house is a very old stone house built over Roman foundations. It's a typical Arlesien house and does have a lot of charm - but the stairs are steep and not suitable for very young children or anyone with an infirmity. Although the house is quite close to a freeway (there is some traffic noise which mostly dies down after 9:00pm) you can close the shutters in the bedrooms and turn on the air conditioning - in which case you will hear no traffic noise. We hope that like this reviewer you will feel very much at home in our house: we have many guests who return regularly and this is something that we prize very highly.

LOVE THIS HOUSE

Brittina San Luis Obispo, California
Review Submitted: June 24, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
Looking for a provencal experience? This is it. This is a home with a heart, not a commercial impersonal hotel. I could happily live in it.

That is not to say it is perfect by American standards. There are steep stairs, only one shower, the washer & dryer are on different floors. We found these to be very small items compared to the charm of this sparklingly clean home.

Additionally, Robert, the owner, is just a call away. We were there in March. Still a little chilly. Within an hour of our request more blankets arrived via the local manager.

Just writing this brings back wonderful memories. Hope to return.

Enjoy, Britt
Owner's Response: If you need any help while you are in Arles, our house manager is a lovely lady who speaks absolutely perfect English - or you are always welcome to call me.
