Originally from Florida my husband and I spend as much time in North Carolina as our schedule permits! With four children, we are constantly on the move enjoying all outdoor activities - especially water-related! Rafting is a favorite for all of us and we go so frequently that we finally bought our own raft!
Robbi Peirce purchased this cabin in 2005
We have been coming to the mountains of North Georgia and Western Carolina since I was in High School and vowed one day to have a place of our own! We have enjoyed all of the local bluegrass hoe downs, Stecoah Valley Center performances, mountain fairs and celebrations and especially the friendly people of North Carolina! The pristine weather keeps us coming back for summer fun, the beautiful fall seasonal change and sometimes snow in the winter!
Enjoying an early cup of coffee on our deck while watching the Hummingbirds feed is the perfect way to start off the day! We love looking at the distant mountains, watching the sunset and listening to all of the mountain sounds! We spend lots of time at Lake Fontana with our 3 boys visiting waterfalls, rock jumping, tubing, picnicing and camping. White water rafting is a must just 20 minutes away!
My wife, mother and I stayed in this cabin for the week of thanksgiving to have a relaxing getaway and we were certainly not disappointed. The rooms are all spacious and beautifully adorned with lots of wood. The view from the balcony was breath taking, and the kitchen was a joy to use.
We'd absolutely recommend it to anyone!
What an awesome cabin! Everything was perfect. Plenty of room. More pans and dishes than you could ever cook with. The views from the deck were beautiful and we had snow the day before we had to go home. The road up to the cabin was a little steep but after you drove it a few times it wasn't a problem. The best part was spending time with family. We hated to have to leave. Made several trips to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherolahala Skyway, Fontana Dam, Brass Town Bald. The day it snowed we stayed at the cabin, watching movies, looking at the views, having a fire and hiking. Would highly recommend this cabin for anyone planning a trip to the mountains. It is a beautiful cabin. Robbie and Mark were a phone call away for any issues but we never had to call them.
Great cabin, far better than the pictures could ever do justice! Quiet, very clean and amazing views from the deck!
My only advice to people who are considering this place is be prepared for the road (and I use the term loosely) leading to the cabin. We were towing a trailer with a motorbike in it, and a few times our front wheel drive SUV struggled for traction. Without the trailer we were fine.
Riding the motorbike to and from the cabin was a little interesting at times. I was very grateful to be on an Adventure Touring bike with ABS. I don't think I would be brave enough to attempt it with a Sportbike or Cruiser.
Don't get me wrong, this is not meant as a complaint, more of an FYI. We had a great time and have every intention on booking this cabin again next Fall!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful mountain views, plenty of hiking. We actually had a bear cross our path while hiking the Appalachian Trail. The cabin is everything they advertised it to be. I highly recommend it. And hope to return, in the near future.
This cabin is beautiful and the views are stunning! My husband, our teenage son and I believe this cabin was an awesome part of our last vacation before our son goes off to college. We spent the days either playing board games out on the deck or going to water water rafting or tubing. The nights we enjoyed making a campfire to cook dinner and talk. The cabin was stocked with everything from long forks to use for roasting marshmallows or hotdogs to recipe books to get an idea on what to make with the blueberries we picked at a local farm. Every morning I enjoyed having my tea and toast out on the deck to watch the mist roll over the mountains. The cabin has a notebook the has more info than any hotel could provide, with dining ideas, fun things to do and store info. Little Elk Knob made vacationing in the mountains easy and relaxing, Thank you!
My friends and I had a great time at your cabin. Very close to Moonshiner 28 and Tail of the Dragon. We rafted the Nantahala river, mtn. biked Tsali and Slayed the Dragon. The driveway was alittle steep on the motorcycles at first but we got used to it. We would recommend your beautiful cabin to anyone, and hope to visit again soon. Thank you.
