Fabulous Property!

We have stayed in this property twice so far (2005/2006) and, having had a brilliant holiday on both occasions,we have booked again for this year (2008).
The house is stunning, the sort of property you would see on Grand Design! It is in a tiny lane off the main square of Sutri and looks quite uninviting from the outside. However, once you open the front door you are straight into a lovely light, modern, well equiped and clean house. There are a lot of different levels, as you can see from the photo's, but our youngest was only 2 the first year we went and he managed the stairs with no problems. There are no baths, only showers, but the bathrooms are very modern and stylish. The terrace is wonderful with amazing views across the countryside (the house is in the city wall) and we had every meal outside. All the arrangements for gainng access to the house went smoothly, any queries were dealt with quickly and the owners are very helpful. The owner speaks very good english and will happily answer any questions via email, which is very useful.
Sutri is a beautful little town with everything you could want (small supermarket, local shops etc). There are a few parking spaces near the property, but most people park in the main car park, which is about 5 mins walk from the house. This means that Sutri is largely pedestrianised and lovely and safe for children. The main square (about 1min walk away) is surrounded with cafe's, restaurants, tourist information office and a bakers. There is also a wonderful gelataria about 1 minute away in the other direction. There is also a great Pizzeria on th outskirts overlooking the Amphitheatre, which is inexpensive but excellent. Sutri has all of the history and beauty of an Italian hilltop town with none of the tourists!
In the area there are two volcanic lakes where you can safely swim, Rome can easily be reached by bus from Sutri, and there are many other places to visit in the area.
We would highly recommend this property, Sutri and the area to anyone!
