Situated in an attractively landscaped setting, on the top floor with views down 10th fairway of Praia del Rey's golf course to sea beyond. Equipped & furnished to a high standard with central heating for winter months. Shared swimming pool & unspoilt beach a short distance away.
Within 1 hour of Lisbon and near the enchanting medieval walled town of Obidos. Sintra, Mafra, the great abbeys of Alcobaca & Batalha are within easy reach making this an ideal base for golfers and non-golfers alike. The area is renowned for its fish and many local restaurants provide excellent food - it is still a relatively unspoilt part of Portugal.
Built in 1999 the owner has taken great care with the attractive furnishings of this light & spacious home.
The large fan-shaped living has 3 lots of windows including a triple french window leading to the balcony - with its comfortable sofa, chairs, tables, TV, DVD/CD video+ tapes, it makes for a relaxing environment. Easy parking, babysitting available.
There is a small supermarket in the complex and local shops/supermarkets within an easy drive. Praia del Rey's golf course was voted 13th best in Europe by Golf World Magazine and 'No 1 in Portugal by the Daily Telegraph 2007. Discounted green fees can be arranged through the owner of the apartment here and at other nearby courses.
This property is legally registered for rental purposes, licence No 3239/AL and also has a valid gas inspection certificate.
I was born and brought up in the Lisbon area of Portugal, married an Englishman, went to live in UK where I had my family, but now live permanently in Cascais (just outside Lisbon). I devised and lectured on Fine Arts tours to all areas of Portugal for many years, and know the country really well, having also written part of 2 guide books. I still write and do research work out here. I am also a golfer (rather a poor one !) but do enjoy it.
Carol Mason purchased this apartment in 1998
I bought this property because I felt it was an area new to foreign tourism at the time, was on an excellent golf course and I LOVE the largely unspoilt coastline. It is also still a very Portuguese part of the country.
My apartment is light and spacious and I thoroughly enjoy my visits to it when it is not rented out.
Excellent position, views, spacious and airy accommodation.
An area of Portugal that I love, and if one is there during the winter and the weather is not so good, there are plenty of sites of historical interest to visit. I also much enjoy the local food, particularly the fish.
We had wonderful weather, not a single day without sun. Perhaps a little fog in the morning, but not for long.
Priscila is a nice girl, she was very helpful.
Unfortunately my husband got an inflammation in his Achilles tendon and we decided to drop the golf. But it is a lovely area, so we have been to Alcobaca, Nazare, Bombaral, driving along the coast and of course Obidos and Peniche. And went for a walk to the beach as much as my huband's leg could manage. We had a great holiday, thank you. Best wishes from Denmark.
This accommodation is just as described. It is very spacious and had everything we could have possibly needed and more to make our holiday complete. A few minutes walk from the club house and 5 minutes walk from an amazing beach.. Also lovely views from the balcony to the gardens below.
Excellent location for visiting Obidos, Peniche and the surrounding area. We found plenty of lovely restaurants nearby too.
I would definately stay again and would recommend to anyone.
Our second visit to Praia del Rey, October is a good time to visit. This is a great apartment with 3 excellent bedrooms, two good size bathrooms and an excellent kitchen. Views towards the sea and 10th fairway of one of the best golf courses in Portugal. Good space in he apartment and good furnishings. Shop in the resort and a vegetable seller near the entrance. The club house and the hotel all provide good food and drink. Very convenient for exploring Portugal and relaxing with golf, tennis and swimming. Well worth a visit!
We have never rented such a comfortable and roomy place before. The flat is very spacious and nicely furnished, from the kitchen and living room you have an excellent view of the sea. Cleaning and change of towels is provided without any extra fees.
10 Minute walk to the sea with beautiful beach. The pool is fantastic. As the sea can be dangerous (not only for children) and really cold (we used wet suits in the middle of July) we were happy to have the big pool. You definitely need a car because the shops and supermarket are 20-25 minutes away from the place. We also enjoyed going to Lisbon (one hour drive) and Porto (a bit more than two hours) as well as going to places like Santarem (inland) or visiting convents like Batalha, Alcobaca, Tomar. Nazaré is also well worth a visit with excellent and cheap fish restaurants.
Very spacious, comfortable and well appointed apartment. The resort did appear to be exceptionally quiet and the majority of the time the Pool might have well been private as there was no-one to share it with.
The Atlantic Coast is beautiful and easily accessible - the resort does only have one shop - which you should only use if you need to buy bread and milk as it is very expensive. Top tip - a woman just outside the resort sells fruit and veg - not sure she grows it however she has a table and you can buy stuff on a daily basis. A car is definitely needed if you wish to get out and about - there is plenty to see and do and the beaches are empty and just the most beautiful I have ever seen. I don't play golf however the surfing is excellent - if you have not done it before book a lesson and get taught how to do then just turn up and hire as it is very cheap.
Lisbon is an easy day trip and seems to be a marmite city - you either love it or hate it - if you need to get around the city park up somewhere and take taxis - they are exceptionally cheap especially if you have a family of 4 - 7 Euros from Torre Del Bellem to City Centre.
Visit Peniche for the Supermarket - as this is the best place to get food.
Overall this apartment was just what we were looking for and definitely exceeded our expectations and have already thought about returning to use the excellent tennis facilities and to also do some more surfing.
Light and bright ideal apartment to stay in. We have stayed twice and it is very quiet and secure - ideal location to explore the coast or play golf. Always very clean and tidy and it is well equipped.
nous avons passer un excellent séjour dans votre appartement; très bien situé avec une vue magnifique;
La résidence est vraiment agréable et calme; et votre appartement était très spacieux;
Je n'hésiterai pas à recommander votre appartement auprès de mon entourage.
The lovely unspoilt beach is nearby and there are marvelous opportunities for walking along the coast, in spring the wild flowers are spectacular.
The Lagoa d'Obidos is a short drive away and provides very safe swimming for children and the opportunity to windsurf. Picturesque Baleal offers good surfing.
Peniche is an ancient fishing port with most of its old defensive walls intact - a visit there to sample grilled sardines in season is a must. Drive there via Cabo Carvoeiro for spectacular coastal views. From Peniche boat trips go to the Berling Islands, a haven for wild birds.
Obidos is a 'pciture postcard' small medieval walled town. You can walk through its cobbled streets, climb the ramparts, browse through its many shops and try the local cherry liquer.
Caldas da Rainha looks fairly unprepossesing on arrival, but it does have a nice town centre and an excellent daily market selling local produce. It is famous for its ceramics.
