The apartment is very stylish and spotlessly clean with a lovely welcome pack with local wines and a complimentary drinks tray. The bookshelves with lots of holiday reading was a welcome sight and satellite TV/DVD's in case we wanted a lazy evening in. The pool was really warm and the jacuzzi was fun especially sitting with a chilled prosecco!
The huge bed was very comfortable and it was lovely to have crisp starched sheets changed twice a week. We needn't have bothered bringing lots of things we had packed as there was shower gel, loo rolls kichen rolls, washing up liquid, sponges, hair dryer and they were all replenished twice weekly.
The kitchen was really well equipped and as I am a keen cook this was much appreciated as well as the lovely barbecue area supplied with charcoal, lighter and tools all ready to go and even fresh herbs.
The apartment is in a beautiful spot with south facing views over a valley and you can see as far as the Mountains in Abruzzo on a clear day. Although you feel in the heart of the country it isn't too isolated though and it is surprising how quickly you can drive from rural bliss to the shops and to go exploring.
The helpful owners were always happy to answer questions and book restaurants for us and they provided a useful file of recommended restaurants with prices and notes about theor specialities; also a huge pile of tourist brochures.
There is so much to do and places to visit that we barely scratched the surface in just a week so we will definitely come back.

A Hidden Gem in Le Marche

Our stay at Le Serendipita was incredible. My husband and I stayed for a total of 2 weeks – the first week at Le Serendipita in Macerata and the second week in Treia. Carole was extremely helpful leading up to our trip sending us directions, travel tips and ensuring that we were aware of all of the amenities at their rental properties so that we didn’t pack items unnecessarily. After a long day of travel, we were greeted by both Carole and Brian with a lovely home cooked meal that they brought to our apartment. It was such an awesome and delicious treat! The food items that they had also provided in our apartment were very much appreciated and allowed us time to get settled before venturing out to a grocery store. This is truly a unique offering that Carole and Brian do for their guests and it is one of many special touches they provide to ensure that guests have a memorable stay.

The apartment in Macerata is a clean, cozy and private unit attached to the country home of the owners. The view of the countryside from the apartment is breath taking and we often found ourselves sitting on the terrace enjoying it over a bottle of local wine. The kitchen is well equipped for those who wish to prepare their own meals. If you prefer to try some of the outstanding local cuisine, there are also many great restaurants that are within a reasonable driving distance. There is an incredible restaurant in Vestignano – Il Picciolo di Rame that Carole recommended and made reservations for us on our behalf. Carole has prepared a small binder for guests to reference with information about recommended restaurants as well as local market information. Carole and Brian were really great hosts and allowed us our privacy but were also easily accessible if we needed anything.

Our second week we stayed at their apartment in Treia. What a great stay! This was a newly renovated apartment with contemporary décor in a very unique and beautiful town of Treia. Lots of space at this location with all of the great amenities that were also found at Macerata. The WiFi signal was stronger and more reliable at this location compared to at Macerata where it was sometimes tricky to receive a steady connection. Although both locations were great, our favourite was at Treia where there was more living space to relax on those days where the weather wasn’t co-operating or we just felt like staying nearby.

We look forward to a return trip! ...hopefully soon!
Owner's Response: We look forward to seeing you soon.

We had a fantastic week at La Serendipita at the end of June. The apartment is situated in a lovely quiet area with wonderful views over-looking pretty hilltop towns and the pool is excellent. The apartment is lovely, but a little on the small side. We had excellent hosts, Carole was very helpful advising of local places to visit and eat, and she even surprised us with a wonderful roast chicken dinner on our arrival after a very long journey! (delicious!). The surrounding area is superb for sightseeing, Macerata with it's wonderful open air theatre and Sirolo are a must. (from Ayrshire, Scotland).
Owner's Response: We are very pleased our guests enjoyed their stay. The apartment has very large outside space with a huge terrace with pool with private guest area with sunloungers, table and chairs, BBQ and pergola , a private balcony for dining and ample parking. The apartment is on the small side but we make up for it with top notch fittings and every luxury we can think of and in the Summer most guests spend the majority of their time lounging by the pool sunbathing under their pergola-or exploring all the wonders of the countryside and ancient hilltop villages. We have another much larger property at Treia which has less outside space but more space indoors www.homeaway.co.uk reference 805961 so we try to cater for everyone.

Incredible Le Marche Vacation!

This review is long overdue. My husband and I spent a week in Serendipitea in Oct/2012. It was even more beautiful than the pictures show. Every need was anticipated and taken care of- starting with the welcome suppper and bottles of wine/prosecco. The binder of information of the area that Carole has put together is invaluable. Listing everything from restaurants, local markets, scenic drives and where the best porchetta truck is, Carole has included it all. If we had any questions Carole and Brian were always willing to help us out.
We took advantage of the cooking class and also a trip to a local winery. Brian and Carole took us to a local supermarket, drove us to the winery and then we spent some time learning local recipes. We have impressed out families with the great meals we learnt in Carole's kitchen.
Brian was wonderful and had the pool operational for me-the crazy Canadian, who wanted to swim in October. They looked after us like family.
We have looked on line at their new place-#805961 and wish we could go and check the new place out. It looks amazing as well.
Thank you Carole and Brian for an incredible week in Le Marche and we only wish we didn't have an ocean separating us.
Carla and Alvaro
Owner's Response: We are delighted Carla and Alvaro enjoyed their stay at La Serendipita. It was a pleasure to have them as our guests. I look forward to their next trip acrosss the pond and hope to be able to show them our new property 805961 then (Maybe a 2 centre holiday- a week in each?) Until then keep having fun in Canada.

Another world - right time, right place

Looking for instant relaxation, we found it at La Serendipita. Carole and Brian were always ahead of us, anticipating all those things to help us settle in, get the most from the locality and enjoy a comfortable break. The accommodation was all that we could want, thoughtfully equipped within and stunning in its outlook - over terrace and pool - to green rolling countryside, hill-top towns and distant mountains.

Highlights for us were ready access to the pool (because there are no other guests, visitors have largely to themselves); the delicious and ample welcome goodies, including lovely local wine; the twice-weekly change of towels and bed linen (laundry-crisp); and - most importantly - the friendly and informative service from our hosts. This was pitched just right - there when you needed it (and sometimes, very pleasantly, when you didn't expect it - with the appearance of an apertitif or an ice at the pool, for example), but never intrusive.

Brian and Carole generously shared their knowledge of the area, and patiently answered our many questions. We got some good steers on where to eat, what to eat and how to order; on places to see (and where to eat when we got there!); and on the local folk and way of life. In an area where English visitors are still a relative rarity and few Italians speak English, Carole was always ready to telephone reservations to restaurants and to provide maps and practical guidance -for example on where and where not to park, and on how to find the best market stalls for locally-produced leather shoe and handbag bargains.

We got a nicely balanced view of the region during our fortnight's stay, exploring many ancient towns with their relaxed, timeless feel and spectacular views over surrounding countryside; driving through the mountains to Lake Fiastra; and visiting the coast. We were shown round a wine cantina, enjoyed atmospheric and excellent value-for-money restaurants and cafes, and bought tasty local produce from bustling local markets. The people we met were friendly and helpful, proud of their local culture and traditions, and cheerfully tolerant of our shortcomings with the native tongue. Italian driving habits were the only things occasionally to disrupt the calm, but generally the roads weren't busy and we soon adapted to that aspect of the local culture.

La Serendipita is well named. The cultual and pace-of-life contrast with the UK made us feel in a different world.

Owner's Response: We love sharing our pleasure in living in Le Marche and are always looking for new ristorante and new places for our guests (and us) to enjoy. We also try to introduce new facilities each year so for 2013 we have white pure cotton dressing gowns and an Ipod docking station.
One of the great things we like about La Serendipita is the delightful people we meet each year and hope to meet again.
Watch home away website for our new Serendipita arriving soon at Treia

La Serendipita is in beautiful countryside midway between Corridonia and Petriolo, 2 charming historic hilltop villages. It is designed for couples looking for luxury and a romantic retreat to recharge the batteries and experience the charm of life in the Italian countryside. We are centrally situated for exploring the unspoilt Marchigiana countryside with its wealth of historic sites, markets, museums and local festivals. There are excellent restaurants with 5 minutes and a gastronomia with delicious local delicacies for when you fell like eating in but don't want to cook. Local markets sell ultra fresh seasonal produce at extremely reasonable prices. There is also an excellent wine shop nearby.23 Blue flag beaches are within easy reach - highest in all Italy. We have stunning views over open countryside but yet are easily accessible with a well maintained access road. There is a multitude of day or shorter trips for you to explore from the coast to the mountains; it is possible to visit Assissi as a day trip or just dawdle round the many markets in our beautiful historic hill top medieaval towns and villages.

Other Activities: Cookery courses . A little further away are paragliding, skiing and hot air ballooning.
