Quintamar is set within the Ria Formosa, a nature reserve situated within the countryside and along the coast of Eastern Algarve. A quiet and unspoilt area with a wide variety of birds and fauna, it is an idyllic and very peaceful location with easy access to beaches, riverlife, historic towns and fishing villages. Tavira is 2km away and can be reached by country lanes and Santa Luzia village and Barril beach is a 10 - 15 minute stroll away. A car is not essential.

Quintamar is a perfect environment for families, couples and larger combinations. Comprising four houses set alongside each other and set within the footprint of a traditional farm building within almond and olive orchards. A 400 m2 biological lake with an inner swimming pool area surrounded by fauna creates a beautiful and refreshing retreat. Private terraces, patios, garden areas, sandpit, Pirate boat with slide and swings playground and lawns make for great outdoor living. Each house has UK free-to-air TV, DVD and heating.

Four beautiful fully equipped houses with sea views set in Ria Formosa nature reserve near beautiful unspoilt white sand and dune 12km beach islands. 5 minutes by car from the historical town of Tavira, 10 minutes drive to various golf courses and 40 minutes by car from Faro. A truly peaceful and idyllic location with all modern comforts and amenities at hand.

There are two 2-bedroom houses, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, sleeping up to 5 persons in each. Large kitchen and living room areas and one bathroom in each. There are two 3-bedroom houses, both with ground and first floors, two bathrooms in each and sleeping 6 and 8 persons respectively. All three ground floor houses can interconnect if required via an interior set of doors, for the purpose of extended families or groups. The first floor 2 bedroom house is accessed via two exterior staircases on either side of the building, both with terraces and tables and chairs.

There are washing machines, iron and boards in the laundry room, for all to use.

The houses are spacious, cool and light, with marble floors throughout. Comfortable and practical furnishings, books, DVDs, and games provided. Ceiling fans in living rooms.

Wood burning stoves circulate hot air, very effective and no smells or smoke can escape. Extra fans, heaters, cots and high chairs are also provided on request.

All windows and doors have sliding insect nets, though the eco-system of the lake serves as a natural & effective insect repellent!.

Each house has private patios & terraces offering both sunny & shady areas, with dining tables & chairs and sunbeds.

Gates lead from each patio to the lake side.

The lawn slopes down to the lakeside and surrounds the wooden decking and sunbeds. There is a large lawn with goal posts for playing football and other ball games.

Apart from the natural wildlife, we have Fan-tail pigeons that roam free & racing pigeons kept out in the fields.

We also have friendly pot belly pigs who are happy to be fed any leftovers and chickens which can supply you with fresh eggs in the animal compound where there is also a fishpond with turtles and gold fish.

Two spacious and cool, well equipped apartments sleeping up to 5 people in 2 bedrooms. The ground floor offers ample covered terrace space both south and north facing, an outdoor extension of the living space, ideal for outdoor eating and offering shade under a pergola. A child safe gate separates the terrace from the lawns and lake in the gardens. The first floor offers beautiful sea and countryside views, great for bird watching from and a generous, light and airy interior. Easy access from the south and north facing terraces by stairs down to the lawns and lake, child safety gate. The apartments are installed with highly efficient wood burning stoves for winter lets, and great cross ventilation and ceiling fans for summer lets.

The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being really beautiful, mostly unspoilt and uncrowded, awarded EEC Blue Flags for cleanliness and water purity. They extend to 12 km of white sandy beaches reached by foot, boat or by little train.

Barril beach is the closest and is accessed either by foot or mini train, all year long. Santa Luzia beach has a seasonal boat service. Both can be reached within about 15 minutes walk and then a 5 minute ride or short walk.

Tavira Island has a good selection of restaurants and bars plus a camping ground and is more active in the high season, there is a constant boat service.

There are summer cultural events in Tavira and in nearby towns, with open-air cinema festivals, live music, exhibitions, workshops, street theatre and concerts...great for all ages.

In June the MED Festival offers music from all over the world in the old centre of Loulé, with stalls and food served till late.

There are many water slide parks, adventure playgrounds, zoo marine and sand sculpture parks in the Algarve, within 1-2 hours drive away.

Visit the local castles and Roman ruins, across the Algarve and further afield to Alentejo, well worth spending a day or two exploring.

Golf: There are four golf courses in the area. About 5km away is Quinta Da Ria and Quinta da Cima golf course which has beautiful courses on the coast.

Monte Rei is higher quality with fine dining and club house.

Travel: Car hire is optional, as bicycles can easily be hired and delivered locally and are suitable for the terrain and distances.

There is a laundry room with two washing machines and iron board for guests use. There are many mobile charcoal/wood barbecues and outside cooking areas including a bread oven and gas hob. Guests are invited to use the outdoor spaces and furniture as they wish, and children are welcome to use all the lawns and play areas and visit the animal enclosure.
