The Garden Retreat (sleeps 2) is a newly converted holiday apartment situated at the end of the west wing of Inish Beg House. Adjacent to the Walled Garden which is home to the sports complex with our heated indoor swimming pool. This holiday apartment has its own separate entrance and consists of a double bedded room, sitting room, kitchen / dining area and a bath and shower room. There is underfloor heating, television and video. It has its own garden and the upstairs bedroom overlooks the walled garden.

Golf: The 18 hole Skibbereen Golf Course is located 3miles (5 kms) from Inish Beg. There are 6 other golf courses within one hour's drive of Inish Beg, including the famous Old Head of Kinsale.

Carriage Driving: There are horses on the estate. On weekdays you can take a carriage and groom around the estate and Inish Beg island. For children there are Shetland ponies and small carriages.

Water Sports: Inish Beg is home to Irish Water Sports; Power Boating, Sailing and Wind Surfing. Courses, Rental and Sales All you need at any level to get on the water. Discounts of 10% on Irish Water Sports rates for guests staying at Inish Beg. Baltimore is famous for its harbour and wonderful trips can be made to Sherkin and Cape Clear Islands by regular ferry. Other trips can be arranged to many of the Carbery Hundred Isles. With fresh water river fishing on the river Ilen and sea angling out of Baltimore, the area is ideal for the fisherman. Angling boats can be hired locally.

Inish Beg is the perfect setting for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The Garden Retreat is ideal for two. It is very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. Unfortunatley it was cold in April and it was difficult to heat the large sitting room despite the generous supply of firewood. Would a wood-burning stove be better? All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Certainly we would like to visit again.

I stayed in the Garden Retreat on two occasions over the past couple of years, and on both those occasions I had a brilliant time. The first time I went it was in Winter and even though it rained for practically the whole time, myself and my partner felt completely coccooned and warm and happy. My second visit was in the summer last year and it was heaven on earth. The retreat is gorgeous and spacious, (with a very large shower to die for!) and it's very private too. We were able to buy honey and vegetables from the garden and the selection was incredible. Such luxury!!! Everybody is so friendly too. The garden retreat is a romatic place for couples and I would highly recommend it! Clare
