Photos and Description of the Genissac vacation farmhouse rental 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 8

This large traditional secluded farmhouse, dating back to the 16th century, traditionally furnished, is set in eight acres of outstanding rolling countryside with vineyards, woods, donkey field and orchard. The 300 degrees sweeping views from all sides are pure Gainsborough with better weather. The 12 meters long swimming pool is surrounded by the vineyard and out of sight from the house. There are two donkeys for the children to feed. The famous wine making medieval village of Saint-Emilion is three miles away, the Dordogne valley and the huge Atlantic beaches are less than an hour away. Bordeaux and its airport, the Medoc wine chateaux are within easy reach (25 kilometers). Scenic cycletrack, built on a disused rail track, leading to the famous ruined medieval abbeyof La Sauve passes very close (bicycles are available there for rent). Many country walks among the vineyards and the chateaux of the beautiful Entre-Deux-Mers and along the Dordogne are possible.

Notes: There are 4 iron garden tables, with their traditional french wooden chairs, and three wooden benches placed in order to be in nice and isolated locations in the garden. There is a nice orchard with 5 cherry trees, 3 apricot trees, 4 plum trees, 2 apple trees, 2 pear trees, 2 walnut trees and a quince tree. As we love gardening, there are lots of climbing roses and bushes. This is not just a renting house but our 'maison de campagne familiale' where we still go with our family and friends. So there are lots of books (french and english) and music CDs available.

What some of our guest have said about us : 'We stayed a the above listed property for two weeks. It is well located for sightseeing in the wine country, the Atlantic beaches and for day trips to the Dordogne Valley. The property is quiet and secluded with a great view. The swimming pool is in great shape. The kitchen is well equipped. The furnishings of the living room and bedrooms are comfortable with a few nice antiques. The renter is a pleasure to deal with. I recommend the property for a low key vacation with plenty of sightseeing available for the energetic. '

Other Activities: Canoeing on the river Dordogne

Beautiful country house

Astrid and Family New Jersey, USA
Review Submitted: July 14, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We rented this property for a week and I only have great things to say about it! The owner was extremely nice and incredibly responsive. The house and grounds were outstanding. We ate many a meal outside overlooking the vineyards and surrounded by a wonderful garden and landscape. The house was very private, well-maintained and had everything we needed and more including a fully equipped kitchen. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to experience a taste of the Southwest of France.
Owner's Response: What could I add to such a good review ! That the huge swimming pool is surrounded by the vineyards ? That one of the donkeys had a lovely baby this spring ? That there are lot of fruits in the orchard, beginning with the cherries in May, ending with the walnuts in October ? And that we are always more than happy to have guests from far away staying in our beloved house....

Fantastic holiday with so much to do and see

Clare and family Oxted, England
Review Submitted: March 18, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
My husband, myself and our 3 children have stayed here twice and hope to come again this summer. There is just so much to do nearby - we canoed on the Dordogne, cycled along a disused railway track (with fab lunch), wandered around beautiful St Emilion and did plenty of wine tasting! The stunning Cap Ferret is a little over an hour's drive and offers beautiful beaches and boutique shopping. You drive past a water park on the way. The little village of Genissac has a shop to buy your fresh croissants and bread in the morning. There is also a very good local doctor. There really is something for everyone!

A perfect summer in France

DAG1 surrey
Review Submitted: March 16, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
Our family and friends stayed in this beautiful historic house in the summer of 2007 & 2008, the accommodation is large, decorated and furnished in a relaxed and practical way, yet very stylish and quintessentially French.
There are extensive gardens with far-reaching views, a large pool and it is all surrounded by vines. The location is calm and private which allowed my eldest teenage son and friends to entertain themselves from dawn to dusk, without interfering with our enjoyment.

There are many activities nearby, we cycled on an old railway track through unspoilt countryside at Creon, canoed on the Dordogne and had a picnic at Pessac, tasted the finest wines in the caves of St.Emilion and ate in riverside restaurants on the banks of the river at Libourne after a busy morning at the market.

This is a place to return to year after year with plenty to do, or simply relax.
