The shady terrace, which runs along the back of the house, overlook the pool (5x10) and enjoys views across the countryside. From the terrace a door leads into an inner hallway off which there is a bathroom and a double bedrooms with television and cables. The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The Dordogne: The Dordogne or Périgord region is one of the most beautiful parts of France, well known to the French for its food and wine. There is a saying, “En Périgord, on mange bien, on boit bien”. Périgord is the home of the truffle and foie gras. Numerous local restaurants, with all regional delights, tempt the casual visitor. As a world centre of prehistory, the Dordogne offers countless caves for exploration. The world-renowned Lascaux and Font de Gaume, with their cave paintings and artefact's, are both close by. The national museum of prehistory, only 30 minutes away in Les Eyzies, provides a good starting point. Entrance is free on the first Sunday of every month. Within easy range, too, are chateaux and bastides – medieval fortified towns – which mark turning points of history, from Viking and English domination, to the resistance of the French Protestants. Rocamadour, one of the most beatifull catolique village of France and the most popular.

A Christmas Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a magnificient Christmass time in this wonderfully decorated very charming home. The house has all amenities and provides for the perfect atmosphere to spend a cozy Christmass in the Dordogne. It is located to many beautiful towns that are great to visit. We took wonderful long walks and then sat at the fireplace in the evening.

The Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

After too short a stay at Le Presbytere I was sorely tempted to forgo writing a review lest it become too difficult in the future to reserve time in this most desirable retreat..but that would be selfish.

Le Presbytere is truly a thing of beauty, peace and nourishment. In the body of this 16th/17th century home are all the comforts and modern amenities needed to put you completely at ease. There is precise attention to every detail that makes a stay memorable. With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, Le Presbytere proves ideal for two couples, easily accommodates three couples, and yet is perfect for just one couple. The bedrooms are spacious with great beds, plush bedding, and each with a unique character. The main downstairs living room/dining room is large and very comfortable, with a great fireplace. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessities needed to prepare great meals from the unbelievably fresh local meats and produce.

On the grounds of Le Presbytere are everything needed for outdoor living. The beautiful swimming pool takes up only a small part of the fenced in (great for dogs) huge yard. With a barbeque pit and outdoor dining on the patio between the house and the pool, it is perfect for staying home and while also enjoying the out of doors. Being located in a small village well off of a main highway, the sounds of silence (if you don’t mind birds chirping) is the first thing you notice. The area is crisscrossed with little roads that provide great walks right outside the door.

With unfailing grace and joy the owner will provide his attention and services to you before and during your visit to ensure that you do have a memorable and pleasurable stay at his well deserved 5-star-rated Le Presbytere.

I could easily go on and on about it’s ideal location in the middle of one of the most historic areas of the Dordogne, the nearby medieval villages and castles, the prehistoric sites of inhabitants who knew a good thing 40,000 years ago. But instead I’ll just say go there, drop your suitcases and daily cares and simply enjoy your time in truly remarkable surroundings. By the time you leave, you’ll be happier and refreshed and looking forward to your return visit.

Luxury in the Countryside

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful month in the country! Philippe Bappel's lovely home in the Dordogne was exactly what we needed: Comfortable, Chic, and Elegant..

From high-quality linens and towels,to the kitchen appliances, everything was as advertised...

As we are frequent visitors to France, this was the first time we rented a house, and it was wonderful to host friends at this idyllic location, in one of the most beautiful areas of France.

Worth a long - long journey

  • 5 of 5

We were three families from Austria, making the long way to this magnificent house either by car or by plane to Toulouse. Unfortunately, we choose only to stay one week there and another one somewhere else. However, this manor is worth a long journey, spacious rooms, perfectly equipped, a wonderful garden and a carefully clean swimming pool. The house is within a beautiful countryside, but not too far away from Souillac and in the middle of an interesting touristic region. We loved it!

Charming

  • 5 of 5

We had 2 fantastic weeks in this magnificent house this summer. We where 2 families, 4 adults and 5 children. The bedrooms where spacious and we ended up using only three bedrooms. The house is nicely furnished, clean and have a nice terrace. Long breakfasts under the vines on the terrace was a perfect start of the day. The big garden and the pool kept the children busy all day long. The pool and the beautiful authentic stone house made all of us want to stay at the house most days. The house is located in a little village with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. On most of the small roads in the area there is no traffic at all. Perfect for children, walking and bike trips.

The local village restaurant "Chastrusse" provided excellent traditional french dishes and very good service. "la Gabarre", 7km away is an even better option if you prefer "gourmet" over "traditional".

The owner was very friendly and always available for questions. He offered good tips for the nearby "must-sees" and helped out on any issue.

We had a lovely stay and can recommend it to anyone.

Superbe demeure !

  • 5 of 5

We are in Dordogne vallées near Souillac (5km) and between Sarlat (15 km) and Rocamadour (12km).

The river Dordogne are at 2km from the house;

All site like Beynac, Dome, La Roque Gageac, Lascaux, Les Eyzies are at less tham 30 minutes drive.

The house is on one of three hilltop villages within sight (and a short drive) of each other. The beautiful village of Nadaillac captivates the visitor with deer, flower displays and an excellent restaurant. Its illuminated church tower is a landmark at night. St Julien, with fresh bread daily, offers several excellent restaurants. The house, Presbytere, is perched atop Escamps, a hamlet of just a few houses, free from intrusion and visitor activity. An enjoyable 30 minute drive to the south lies the medieval town of Sarlat; a similar distance to the west is Les Eyzies, the ‘capital of prehistory’, while to the north are the celebrated caves of Lascaux, where images of bison and deer. And Rocamadour at 30 mn, one of the most wonderfull village.

Other Activities: CANOE FISHING WINE TRUFFE

Golf: 3 golfs very near 10km, 20 km and 25 km.
