Aspra is a charming fisherman’s village only 15 km from Palermo; away from luxury tourism it is a genuine place, where you can experience the warmth of Sicilians and is a good starting point to discover our traditions and hidden places. The waterfront is a pedestrian area and there are many Italian bars, ice-cream parlours and the typical restaurants called Trattoria, with marvellous seafood and all kinds of basic shops and services such as: post office, bank, tourist doctor, chemist, tobacconist, parfumerie, newsagent, gift shops, supermarket and local special food shops at maximum 200mt away. Fish is sold beside both harbours and by the way..Palermo is only 15km away!! You'll find many historical sites and places to see in Palermo. With fine monuments, works of art, churches and buildings, tourism in Palermo is far from boring!

How to get to Aspra - Bagheria: Fly to Palermo- Punta Raisi airport; Aspra is just 40km and 40 min drive far from the airport. Cheap flights are available from Ryan Air from London Stanstead to Palermo. If you decide to hire a car, visit sbc (ask us for link) a local car hire company which allows good fares, in this case I'll send you a map and detailed information to reach easily the house. The quickest and cheapest way to get to Aspra Bagheria is by catching the train at the airport, the one way TKT costs 6.05 euros; it will take you at Palermo Centrale station in 40 min then change wagon; there are plenty trains leading to Bagheria in 10 min. I'll collect you there on arrival for free. Otherwise I can arrange your transfer from / to the Palermo airport for € 40 total one way,or from / to the Trapani airport for € 80 total one way up to 3 people.

Local tradition: In September a traditional Festa takes place, with boat races, aquatic games and the mystic procession of Madonna statue, carried on the boat and followed by the fisherman families in their own boats. Daily fair and a fantastic fireworks display performed on the sea platform at the end of the celebration

Golf: The nearest golf course is located 45 Km (23miles), and 30/40 minutes drive from my house. It is opened all year round; altitude mt 74 on level sea; 18 holes, mt 6004, Par 72. Practical field, pitching green, putting green.

A Great Find

This apartment is the ideal base for a stay in Sicily for those who want to avoid the busy resorts.
This is easily the cleanest apartment we have ever stayed in and there was nothing we lacked. Air conditioning is essential in Sicily and this was very good. Alessandro looked after us perfectly and was very informative about what to find locally and where is best to explore.
This is a third floor apartment so 60 stairs may be too much for the elderly.
Aspra provides an ideal base for driving to anywhere on the island. The main roads are within easy reach. A day trip out to Agrigento (1.5 - 2 hours each way) is well worth while and on your return you will have the sea to cool off in just a minute's walk from your front door. The beach here was never as crowded as others we visited and has handy bars and gelateria for refreshment. The sea is calm and very safe.

This is a nice, clean and comfortable apartment with great sea view (from the terrace) and free features such as internet, air conditioning, washing machine and towels. This combined with the hospitality and helpfulness of Alessandro made our week in Aspra the far most memorable of our stay in sicily. The apartment is situated pretty good with several decent local restaurants and bars within short walking distance. Most of Sicilys attractions are easily within 2 hours driving so this is a great startingpoint for traveleres seeking an authentic experience, adventureres etc. You practically live among the locals, so no touristmagnets here.

Alessandro was very helpful showing us around in both Palermo and Aspra, also giving us some ideas for what to see and do on Sicily in general. This is gold, as a touristguide itself really cant compare to the tip of a traveled local.

All in all, if you go to Sicily this is a great starting point, with massive value for your money and a very helpful and trustworthy host.

Everything promised was delivered. Great location, just 30-50 metres from the beach! Flat was very comfortable and clean. Within 50 m from the flat, you can buy panini e.g. with prosciutto (ham) in pizzicheria, gelato (ice-cream), or swim in the sea:-). For longer trips around, bring your own car. Alessandro was the most hospitable person in Sicily.

Great apartment with sea view

The apartment was just as advertised, clean, well maintained and with all the necessary amenities including adequate air conditioning for Americans. Although the apartment is not 'on the sea', it still has a spectacular view of the sea and surrounding mountains from the terrace. The feel of the aprtment is more like you are living among the locals as opposed to staying in a resort. We really enjoyed this. The owner's rep Alex is excellent and was always available if we needed anything. We would highly recommend the property if the style fits your needs. We thought it was a great value.

The apartment is located on a street which runs into the main sea boulevard for Aspra, just a about a minute's walk. There are convenient cafes and small grocery stores very near, no need to get in car to go get essentials or have a cup of expresso. Also great pizzeria and restraurants nearby and within walking distance. The mornings are interesting as the local fishermen sell their fresh and many times live seafood on the nearby beach area.

Within a short distance is Porticello, Santa Flavia, Solunto with spectacular views from very good but not too expensive restaurants. Also within a few minutes of driving are Bagheria, and within about 20 minutes is Palermo. We also traveled to Cefalu and Taormina by car. The apartment is on the 3 rd floor with no elevator access so it is not suitable for disabled.

Things to know about Aspra for tourists can be found in travel guides, however, be prepared to not have access to taxis. If you stay here you will need to rent a car or have some arrangements for transportation whereever you go. We rented a car and I learned to drive there without a problem so we had no issues.

A genuine holiday experience

This is a comfortable apartment in an authentic fishing village with the fishermen selling their catch from the quay. There is plenty of space for a couple and another person. Aspra has a couple of good restaurants, an amazing fast food Italian snack bar serving a variety of breads, pizzas and paninis. There are also a number of locals' bars and cafes and food shopping facilities. We found Aspra to be within easy reach of Palermo, Cefalu, Monreale, Mondello and Agrigento (2 hours' drive). We would consider a car essential if you want to explore the area. Parking is no problem. Alessandro is friendly, most welcoming and helpful.
