The House was built in the late 1800’s. This is one of the few large historic Victorian Key West home originally built in the Bahamas by shipbuilders. It was then later dissembled, Shipped to Key West and reassembled by skilled tradesman of the time. Originally owned by a Wealthy French Count, Dr. Odette Philippe, the stately mansion took residence on the island during the times of early pioneers and the pirates of the Caribbean. Local lare insists that gold was once buried on the grounds by various recluse adventures who took up residence at the property when Philippe owned the home. Today this home is one of the few large historic Victorian Mansion estates available for rent as a single family residence. The property is a spectacular treasure and an endearing reminder of those fanciful earlier days gone by. A stay at this special estate almost feels museum-like as it offers a unique opportunity to intimately experience firsthand a slice of Key West architectural history. Enjoy all of the original design work of handcrafted ‘’ Verandah porches, carved banister staircases, original Dade County pine floors and walls, high 12 foot ceilings on the first two floors, and original French windows and doors throughout to stream in the sunlight.
