Within easy reach of the cottages are the 12th -14th century Bastide towns of Duras with vineyards and chateau, Eymet, Miramont de Guyenne and slightly further afield the acknowledged Monpazier.
If history is your thing then this area is rich in human history from Cro-Magnon man in the Dordogne Valley to huge castles used during the hundred years war. Lascaux 2 offers a chance to see some of the best early cave paintings whilst Beynac et Cazenac, Sarlat, Domme and Castelnaud have huge medieval connections and are very picturesque.
The Lot et Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde are famous for their gastronomy and local dishes include oysters, duck, foie gras and the infamous truffle. Local wines are well renowned from summery rosés to thick, fruity reds and the unusual sweet Monbazillac - a good Sauterne rival.
Our cottages are larger than average and very fully equipped - each with its own private garden and bar-b-que, dishwasher, washing machine, TV/video with English channels, Hi-Fi, electric heating and double glazing for the chillier winter months (except Au Matou with log burning fireplace). Nearly all the furniture is new for this season.
The TWO swimming pools are both 11m x 5m with roman steps, pool houses, solar showers and plenty of sunbathing terraces. All bed linen and towels except beach towels are provided.
We are 10/15 minutes from two lakes with all sporting facilities (quad bikes/horse riding/flumes/beaches etc.) an hour from the coast and St.Emilion and five minutes from beautiful bars, restaurants, bastide fortified villages, chateau, caves etc. (children VERY welcome in all restaurants.)
