This airy, three-bedroom duplex apartment in the heart of the Marais district has all the characteristics of an upscale Townhouse.
At 1,900 sq ft, it is unusually spacious and features a true rarity in Paris – a large (400 sq), landscaped, private terrace. Beautifully appointed with outdoor furniture and barbecue grill, the terrace is ideal for outdoor eating and entertaining. And being surrounded on three sides by the apartment, as well as situated at the rear of the building, it offers complete privacy and tranquility.
The apartment is located next to the BHV, an extraordinary retail store, and is next to the Tour St Jacques and the Hotel de Ville. Just a few more minutes away are the banks of the Seine and the bridges to Notre Dame, Ile St-Louis and St-Germain.
There is no shortage of shops, cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood, and next-door is a small supermarket.
From the apartment’s private, street-level entrance, a carpeted staircase leads one flight up to the main floor, where you’ll enter into the large, open-plan living/dining room with a lovely view of the terrace. Also on this level are the master bedroom; full bathroom with bathtub, hand-held shower, WC and vanity; an additional WC, fully-equipped kitchen; and utility room with washer/dryer. Two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom are located on the level above.
The light-filled living room has three sets of French doors that open onto the terrace and two seating areas, one of which is on a low platform in the corner of the room, with sectional sofa and wide-screen cable TV.
The dining area has table and seating for eight and doubles as a library. A fabulous curved shelf unit in the corner contains sliding doors that open to additional storage. The spacious master bedroom is on this level and is accessed from the living room along a corridor lined with books – so many, in fact, that the owner has thoughtfully placed a reading bench along the opposite wall! Tastefully decorated in soothing neutrals, the bedroom has a walk-in closet and also opens onto the terrace.
Upstairs on the second floor (US third floor) are two more double bedrooms with windows overlooking the terrace. One contains a queen-sized bed and is decorated in soft lilac and white, and the other is a perfect bedroom for children. Painted in cheerful yellows, it has twin beds (one with extra large trundle), a crib, writing desk and chair.
The bathroom on this level has a large bathtub with shower attachment, two sinks and a WC that can be closed off for extra privacy.
The Marais is one of the most ancient and picturesque central parts of Paris, characterized by its unique 17th century buildings and elegant stores and restaurants. For visitors wishing to explore Paris on foot, this is an excellent starting point.
The Seine River is around the corner, the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the romantic Ile Saint Louis are a short 5 minutes walk.
If you have any interest in art, you have plenty of galleries and workshops where you can buy exquisite gifts.
You are also a short stroll away to Place des Vosges and of all those beautiful museums: Carnavalet, Jewish Museum, Picasso Museum and so many others. The Louvre, even closer, is a 5 minutes walk.
On top of everything, and it is rather rare in the center of Paris, this is a very quiet apartment in the middle of a superb lively neighborhood.
