This is a wonderful stone built cottage, located in a field on the owners' working farm in the little Teesdale hamlet of Holwick. Approached by a farm lane, the cottage has been carefully created from an old stone barn and to take advantage of the superb views has 'upside down' accommodation. Comfortably furnished and newly decorated, this delightful barn provides superb holiday accommodation any time of the year. There are two (ground floor) bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x family with three single beds. Three piece modern bathroom. First floor spacious beamed living room with kitchen, dining and sitting areas and gas stove with coal effect fire. The River Tees runs by the bottom of the field. About the Area: Middleton 3 miles; Barnard Castle 12 miles. The peaceful and charming hamlet of Holwick is located at the end of a "no-through road" in the centre of stunning, unspoilt Teesdale. There is a pub serving food and a farm/butcher's shop and cafe (on the owners' farm). The surrounding area is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is idyllic for walkers and lovers of country life. The breathtaking waterfall of High Force is within walking distance of the hamlet and the Pennine Way passes nearby. There are picturesque villages to explore: such as Middleton, Mickleton and Romaldkirk, and the ancient market town of Barnard Castle close by. All of the beautiful Northern Dales are within reach and the Lake District is less than an hour drive away. Riding, fishing, golf and a variety of watersports are all on offer locally.
