A short walk away is the village of Giggleswick. About the Area: Settle 1 mile; Malham 6 miles; Skipton 16 miles. This wonderful Ribblesdale village rests below a limestone scar (part of the Craven fault) and across the river from the vibrant market town of Settle. It is a delightfully pretty place with sturdy cottages and houses, many dating back to the 17th Century as the 'date stones' over their doorways confirm. Now the village is still centred around the stunning St Alkelda's church, dating back to the 12th Century and the renowned landmark of the domed chapel at the famous Giggleswick School, which dominates the village skyline. Giggleswick offers a few small shops and pubs, whilst the vast ranging amenities of the market town of Settle nearby are within easy walking distance. Further away is the town of Ingleton with its superb waterfall walk and of course (for the more serious walker) the Three Peaks are close by.
