The village offers a variety of shops, pubs and tearooms. Pickering, the nearby market town, provides a wide range of amenities and the famous North York Moors Steam Railway. Surrounding the village there are broad fields and views to the south across the Vale of Pickering, while to the north lies the Forestry Commission's Dalby Forest, offering several wonderful nature trails to be enjoyed.
