A wonderful base for a superb Dales holiday. About the Area: Leyburn 5 miles. Hunton is an attractive village located in Lower Wensleydale, 5 miles from Leyburn. Village facilities include a traditional village shop with post office and a village green with play area, as well as a pub with restaurant. Hunton makes a perfect location for walking and touring the numerous attractions of Wensleydale and Swaledale, the historic Richmond and Middleham, are within a ten minute drive, as are the pretty market towns of Bedale and Leyburn. Less than a mile away is a golf course, and the region boasts many wonderful restaurants and award winning pubs. The attractions of Fountains Abbey, Beamish and Lightwater Valley are all nearby. The closest town, Leyburn, dominated by its great market square, still boasts a dynamic Friday market, numerous craft shops, galleries and tearooms. There is a wealth of stunning walks for all abilities in this spectacular area, as well as superb villages to explore. Many other attractions are also within easy reach, including the Constable Burton Hall Gardens with widespread parkland and woodland walks, the Forbidden Corner containing underground passages to explore, and of course the beautiful Georgian town of Richmond with its magnificent castle ruins.
