Burnsall is a charming village in pretty Wharfedale, located on a bend in the River Wharfe and framed by the spectacular backdrop of Burnsall Fell. The 12th Century church is thought to be the oldest building in the village and the attractive village school is one of the oldest in Britain. Probably the most renowned feature in the village is the bridge, a traditional Dales bridge boasting five stone arches. The river winds through the village, which, with an extensive village green and superb walks in the region, make this wonderful area an excellent base for exploring the Dales and everything it has to offer. The village itself contains a small shop selling sweets, ice-cream and a variety of essential goods, a tea room, a pub/hotel, whilst a fuller range of facilities are available at nearby Grassington and Skipton. Burnsall's river 'beach' is a must for children on a sunny day, only a few minutes walk away.
