Ryde is nearby, with its various attractions, fantastic sandy beaches and a wide selection of shops and restaurants. About the area: Ryde is renowned as 'The Gateway to the Island', it is the largest town on the Isle of Wight and became a popular holiday destination in the 1820s. Today, the regular ferry, catamaran and hovercraft services make this superb family resort accessible for all. There's so much to do and see, catering for every age and interest within the town and the local area, including a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs, whilst the 6 miles of gently sloping sandy beaches are perfect for bathing. Along the esplanade there is an ice rink, bowling greens, putting greens, tenpin bowling and children's rides as well as a boating lake and paddling pool.
